{"id":200307,"date":"2025-06-20T16:31:09","date_gmt":"2025-06-20T16:31:09","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/uk\/200307\/"},"modified":"2025-06-20T16:31:09","modified_gmt":"2025-06-20T16:31:09","slug":"king-charles-and-idris-elba-team-up-on-netflix-documentary","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/uk\/200307\/","title":{"rendered":"King Charles and Idris Elba Team Up on Netflix Documentary"},"content":{"rendered":"<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/  a-font-body-m     \">\n\tKing Charles and <a href=\"https:\/\/www.hollywoodreporter.com\/t\/idris-elba\/\" id=\"auto-tag_idris-elba_1\" data-tag=\"idris-elba\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Idris Elba<\/a> are teaming up on a new <a href=\"https:\/\/www.hollywoodreporter.com\/t\/netflix\/\" id=\"auto-tag_netflix_1\" data-tag=\"netflix\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Netflix<\/a> documentary exploring the impact of <a href=\"https:\/\/www.hollywoodreporter.com\/t\/king\/\" id=\"auto-tag_king_1\" data-tag=\"king\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">The King<\/a>\u2018s Trust, in celebration of the charity\u2019s 50th anniversary.<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/  a-font-body-m     \">\n\tLuther star Elba was the beneficiary of a grant from the Trust (then The Prince\u2019s Trust, before Charles had ascended to the British throne). For Elba, it was a small but life-changing opportunity, which enabled him to study acting.<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/  a-font-body-m     \">\n\tThe currently untitled doc will see Elba, founder of the Elba Hope Foundation, accompany the King as he offers rare access and insights into his support for the Trust over the past five decades. At its heart, Netflix says, will be the compelling stories of some of the one million young people the charity has helped around the world.<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/  a-font-body-m     \">\n\t\u201cThe King\u2019s Trust gave me an opportunity that changed my life,\u201d Elba said. \u201cAt a time when I didn\u2019t have the resources to pursue my ambitions, they offered real, practical support \u2014 including financial help \u2014 that helped me take those first steps to advance my career.\u201d<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/  a-font-body-m     \">\n\tHe continued: \u201cToday, through the Elba Hope Foundation, I\u2019m focused on creating those same opportunities for young people who are full of potential but lacking access. Around the world, millions are still waiting for that one door to open. This documentary is about shining a light on what\u2019s possible when it does \u2014 and why the work of The King\u2019s Trust remains so important.\u201d<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/  a-font-body-m     \">\n\tThe documentary, which begins filming next week and will launch on Netflix in fall 2026, is produced by 22 Summers, a production company founded by Elba and Diene Petterle. Ashley Francis-Roy directs.<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/  a-font-body-m     \">\n\tAlongside Petterle, the other executive producers are Jonathan Smith and Eva Omaghomi.
