{"id":200313,"date":"2025-06-20T16:34:10","date_gmt":"2025-06-20T16:34:10","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/uk\/200313\/"},"modified":"2025-06-20T16:34:10","modified_gmt":"2025-06-20T16:34:10","slug":"kate-middleton-shares-new-message-after-missing-royal-ascot","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/uk\/200313\/","title":{"rendered":"Kate Middleton Shares New Message After Missing Royal Ascot"},"content":{"rendered":"<p> NEED TO KNOW<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Kate Middleton has written a poignant message to children&#8217;s hospices, saying it was an &#8220;immense privilege&#8221; to see their work<\/li>\n<li>The Princess of Wales, 43, praised them for lifting the spirits of children and families &#8220;through life, death and beyond&#8221;<\/li>\n<li>Her June 20 message, as Children&#8217;s Hospice Week draws to an end, came six months after she took on the role of patron to a hospice in South Wales<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p id=\"mntl-sc-block_2-0\" class=\"comp mntl-sc-block mntl-sc-block-html\"> <a href=\"https:\/\/people.com\/tag\/kate-middleton\/\" data-component=\"link\" data-source=\"inlineLink\" data-type=\"internalLink\" data-ordinal=\"1\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Kate Middleton<\/a> is showing her support for kids\u2019 hospices in a poignant week.\n<\/p>\n<p id=\"mntl-sc-block_4-0\" class=\"comp mntl-sc-block mntl-sc-block-html\"> In a new message issued on Friday, June 20, the Princess of Wales praised how hospices \u201clift the spirits\u201d and support seriously ill children and their families through \u201clife, death and beyond.\u201d\n<\/p>\n<p id=\"mntl-sc-block_6-0\" class=\"comp mntl-sc-block mntl-sc-block-html\"> She said it was an \u201cimmense privilege\u201d seeing the work up close of two hospices, with\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.each.org.uk\/\" data-component=\"link\" data-source=\"inlineLink\" data-type=\"externalLink\" data-ordinal=\"1\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">East Anglia\u2019s Children\u2019s Hospices<\/a> and T\u0177 Hafan Children\u2019s Hospice, during her visits as their patron.\n<\/p>\n<p id=\"mntl-sc-block_8-0\" class=\"comp mntl-sc-block mntl-sc-block-html\"> It came in a week when Princess Kate, 43, <a href=\"https:\/\/people.com\/kate-middleton-pulls-out-royal-ascot-last-minute-11756317\" data-component=\"link\" data-source=\"inlineLink\" data-type=\"internalLink\" data-ordinal=\"1\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">dropped out<\/a> of an expected visit to the Royal Ascot race meeting on Wednesday. Kate is still managing her return to public-facing duties amid her recovery from cancer treatment.\n<\/p>\n<p id=\"mntl-sc-block_10-0\" class=\"comp mntl-sc-block mntl-sc-block-html\"> In her message on June 20, Kate wrote, \u201cNo parent expects to hear that their child has a serious health condition that could shorten their life. Sadly, this is the reality faced by thousands of families across the country, leaving them heartbroken, fearful of the future and often desperately isolated.&#8221;\n<\/p>\n<p id=\"mntl-sc-block_12-0\" class=\"comp mntl-sc-block mntl-sc-block-html\"> \u201cBeing able to access the support of one of the U.K.\u2019s 54 children\u2019s hospices means they don\u2019t have to face that future alone,&#8221; she added.<\/p>\n<p> Kate Middleton visiting The Treehouse, run by EACH in Ipswich, Suffolk, U.K.<\/p>\n<p>Mark Cuthbert\/UK Press via Getty<\/p>\n<p id=\"mntl-sc-block_15-0\" class=\"comp mntl-sc-block mntl-sc-block-html\"> \u201cAs Patron of East Anglia\u2019s Children\u2019s Hospices and T\u0177 Hafan Children\u2019s Hospice in South Wales, I have the immense privilege of seeing for myself the extraordinary work of our children\u2019s hospices,&#8221; she said. &#8220;Lifting spirits through laughter, fun and play, as well as listening, holding, caring and sharing, they support children and families through life, death and beyond.&#8221;\n<\/p>\n<p id=\"mntl-sc-block_17-0\" class=\"comp mntl-sc-block mntl-sc-block-html\"> &#8220;This Children\u2019s Hospice Week, I hope you will join me in celebrating the life-changing work they do and thanking them for the vital care they provide to children and families experiencing the most challenging times,&#8221; Kate concluded.\n<\/p>\n<p id=\"mntl-sc-block_19-0\" class=\"comp mntl-sc-block mntl-sc-block-html\"> Support for children&#8217;s hospices has been an ever-present part of Princess Kate&#8217;s public work since she started in public life soon after marrying Prince William in 2011. She has also visited hospices around the world during her overseas tours.\n<\/p>\n<p id=\"mntl-sc-block_21-0\" class=\"comp mntl-sc-block mntl-sc-block-html\"> During Children\u2019s Hospice Week, which ends on June 22, the charity Together for Short Lives brings together the vital services to celebrate the incredible work they do for seriously ill children and their families.\u00a0\n<\/p>\n<p id=\"mntl-sc-block_23-0\" class=\"comp mntl-sc-block mntl-sc-block-html\"> Kate made her first visit to <a href=\"https:\/\/www.tyhafan.org\/\" data-component=\"link\" data-source=\"inlineLink\" data-type=\"externalLink\" data-ordinal=\"1\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">T\u0177 Hafan<\/a> in January, spending more time than she was scheduled, crouching down, talking to youngsters and their families and<a href=\"https:\/\/people.com\/kate-middleton-was-at-ease-with-children-during-hospice-visit-you-can-tell-she-is-a-mom-exclusive-8783206\" data-component=\"link\" data-source=\"inlineLink\" data-type=\"internalLink\" data-ordinal=\"2\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"> joining in with the game<\/a>s. T\u0177 Hafan \u2014 which means &#8220;Haven House&#8221; in Welsh \u2014 is located in Sully, South Wales, and was built with the support of\u00a0Prince William&#8217;s\u00a0late mother,\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/people.com\/tag\/princess-diana\/\" data-component=\"link\" data-source=\"inlineLink\" data-type=\"internalLink\" data-ordinal=\"3\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Princess Diana<\/a>.\n<\/p>\n<p id=\"mntl-sc-block_25-0\" class=\"comp mntl-sc-block mntl-sc-block-html\"> Tracy Jones, the director of family well-being services who showed Kate around, <a href=\"https:\/\/people.com\/kate-middleton-relaxed-welcoming-during-visit-childrens-hospice-stayed-much-longer-than-expected-exclusive-8783119\" data-component=\"link\" data-source=\"inlineLink\" data-type=\"internalLink\" data-ordinal=\"1\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">said on the day of the visit in January<\/a>, \u201cShe immediately gravitated to the children and families \u2014 she spent quality time talking to every child and their parents.\u201d\n<\/p>\n<p> Kate Middleton visiting Naomi House Children&#8217;s Hospice, near Winchester, Hampshire, U.K. in April 2013.<\/p>\n<p>Max Mumby\/Indigo\/Getty<\/p>\n<p id=\"mntl-sc-block_28-0\" class=\"comp mntl-sc-block mntl-sc-block-html\"> \u201cIt\u2019s been the most inspiring visit,\u201d Jones added. \u201cShe crouched down and was straightaway on the level of the children. If they were in a wheelchair, she crouched at that level. If they were on the floor, she would be at the level,\u201d she continues. \u201cWe were seriously impressed with how she could stay in a crouch, as it\u2019s not that comfortable!&#8221;\n<\/p>\n<p id=\"mntl-sc-block_30-0\" class=\"comp mntl-sc-block mntl-sc-block-html\"> &#8220;She instinctively seemed to know where to touch a child that was going to provide the connection, but not cause any distress or startle a child. She was looking at the children, even if she was talking to the parent. It\u2019s what we do, as we\u2019re used to working with children who are nonverbal,&#8221; she added.\n<\/p>\n<p id=\"mntl-sc-block_32-0\" class=\"comp mntl-sc-block mntl-sc-block-html\"> Nick Carroll, CEO of Together for Short Lives, praised Kate&#8217;s &#8220;ongoing support for Children\u2019s Hospice Week over many years [that] has helped to raise much-needed awareness of the life-changing work children\u2019s hospices do, every day of the year.&#8221;\n<\/p>\n<p id=\"mntl-sc-block_34-0\" class=\"comp mntl-sc-block mntl-sc-block-html\"> &#8220;Their extraordinary lifeline care for children with life-limiting and life-threatening illnesses enables families to make the most of their lives together, whether that\u2019s for years, months or only hours,&#8221;
