The 52-year-old, who played for <a href=\"https:\/\/www.express.co.uk\/latest\/newcastle-united-fc\" data-link-tracking=\"InArticle|AutoLink\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Newcastle<\/a> United, Sunderland and Fulham during his career, later transitioned into management and television punditry. The Magpies favourite made 265 appearances for the club over two spells, netting 28 goals.<\/p>\n<p>However, the ex-midfielder&#8217;s financial situation is now in the spotlight following the filing of a bankruptcy order with the London Gazette. The petition was dated November 7 last year, but the bankruptcy order was issued on June 10. The petitioner was a finance company named One Stop Business based in York. Wallsend-born Clark &#8211; father to Bobby Clark, who played for <a href=\"https:\/\/www.express.co.uk\/latest\/liverpool-fc\" data-link-tracking=\"InArticle|AutoLink\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Liverpool<\/a> &#8211; is listed on the order as residing at a \u00a32m property in Jesmond, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.express.co.uk\/latest\/newcastle-united-fc\" data-link-tracking=\"InArticle|AutoLink\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Newcastle<\/a>. Clark started his career at <a href=\"https:\/\/www.express.co.uk\/latest\/newcastle-united-fc\" data-link-tracking=\"InArticle|AutoLink\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Newcastle<\/a> before making a high-profile move to Sunderland in 1997.<\/p>\n<p>However, he incensed Sunderland fans after a contentious incident during his tenure under Peter Reid, when he was seen wearing a T-shirt bearing a derogatory slogan aimed at &#8216;Sad Mackem B*******&#8217; at the 1999 FA Cup final.<\/p>\n<p>He never played for Sunderland again and Clark subsequently returned to <a href=\"https:\/\/www.express.co.uk\/latest\/newcastle-united-fc\" data-link-tracking=\"InArticle|AutoLink\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Newcastle<\/a> after a spell with Fulham. Clark had been a well-liked and highly-regarded player during his time at Sunderland and was part of the team that secured promotion from the old Division One during the 1998\/99 season. Clark even captained the club on occasion.<\/p>\n<p>He subsequently became a coach at <a href=\"https:\/\/www.express.co.uk\/latest\/newcastle-united-fc\" data-link-tracking=\"InArticle|AutoLink\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Newcastle<\/a> under Glenn Roeder, later joining him at Norwich, before transitioning into management.<\/p>\n<p>Clark had successful spells as manager of Huddersfield Town and Birmingham City. He went on to manage Blackpool, Kilmarnock, Bury and Blyth Spartans, before venturing to Africa and the Middle East. Clark took charge of Sudanese teams Al Merrikh and Al-Merrikh, as well as managing Omani club Al-Ittihad.<\/p>\n<p>His son Bobby won the League Cup with <a href=\"https:\/\/www.express.co.uk\/latest\/liverpool-fc\" data-link-tracking=\"InArticle|AutoLink\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Liverpool<\/a>, playing a key role in the Reds&#8217; memorable 1-0 victory over <a href=\"https:\/\/www.express.co.uk\/latest\/chelsea-fc\" data-link-tracking=\"InArticle|AutoLink\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Chelsea<\/a> in 2024. The midfielder was part of <a href=\"https:\/\/www.express.co.uk\/latest\/jurgen-klopp\" data-link-tracking=\"InArticle|AutoLink\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Jurgen Klopp<\/a>&#8216;s youthful side that defied expectations at Wembley.
