The 49ers and Leeds United head into 2025\/26 with just one full-back that Daniel Farke has used regularly on their books.<\/strong><\/p>\n

With Sam Byram out of contract and Junior Firpo set to join Real Betis<\/a>, Jayden Bogle is the only full-back Leeds United<\/a> utilised regularly last season.<\/p>\n

Isaac Schmidt seldom featured and occasionally was played on the wing rather than as an attacking full-back. It leaves the 49ers<\/a> and Daniel Farke<\/a> short of options in that department.<\/p>\n

It was said that once the Rangers takeover was complete,\u00a0Paraag Marathe would be less hands-on<\/a>\u00a0at Leeds but his Rangers team have identified Max Aarons<\/a> as a summer target.<\/p>\n

The 49ers\u2019 new project with Rangers appears to be interfering with\u00a0Leeds\u2019 transfer plans somewhat. That\u2019s because a full-back\u00a0Leeds are said to be weighing up is Bournemouth\u2019s Aarons<\/a>.<\/p>\n

Aarons has confirmed he will leave Bournemouth<\/a> recently following a loan spell for Aarons with Carlos Corberan\u2019s Valencia<\/a>. He has been a long-term target for Leeds in recent seasons as well.<\/p>\n

Aarons could have joined Leeds over Bogle<\/a>\u00a0in the summer, but chose a move to the Cherries instead.\u00a0Farke had then tried to lure Aarons to Leeds<\/a> to reunite in West Yorkshire after the Norwich academy product excelled under his tutelage.<\/p>\n

Aarons was said to be on his way to Leeds to complete a deal<\/a>, only for Bournemouth to hijack a move at the last minute while he was inside Thorp Arch awaiting a medical.<\/p>\n

Following his move to Bournemouth,\u00a0Aarons even apologised to his old manager Farke.<\/a> But a move could have been revived this summer to give Leeds greater full-back depth.<\/p>\n

In recent days, Paraag Marathe\u2019s Rangers have eyed Aarons over Leeds<\/a>. Now, it appears as though Rangers have won the race \u2014 according to Sky Sports\u2019 Mark McAdam.<\/p>\n

A straight loan has been agreed for the former Norwich man to play under Norwich legend Russell Martin. There is no obligation for the Scottish giants to sign the right-back.<\/p>\n

Leeds will have to look elsewhere instead. Konstantinos Tsimikas<\/a> has been one\u00a0linked left-back target, while\u00a0Hugo Bueno, Ben Davies and Aarons have all been mentioned,<\/a>\u00a0too.<\/p>\n

Last summer, Graeme Bailey told\u00a0Leeds United News<\/strong>\u00a0that\u00a0Bournemouth wanted north of \u00a315 million for Aarons<\/a>. But that figure has not only reduced but become a loan without any buy option or obligation following his lack of games.<\/p>\n

Aarons is versatile, given his left-back berth for England\u2019s U-21 team for many years. He can feature on either the right or left side of a back four as a full-back, albeit Bogle\u2019s presence makes an addition like Aarons make less sense.<\/p>\n

Losing Byram\u2019s versatility is the kicker for Leeds, and unless Farke intends to find more minutes for Schmidt, Leeds are likely to require at least two new full-backs this summer.<\/p>\n

It\u2019s important to also have a mix of profiles in those roles. Bogle and Schmidt are attack-minded, and perhaps at least one defensive full-back and one two-way full-back is the requirement for Leeds this summer.<\/p>\n<\/p>\n
