Ed Sheeran has dropped his latest single, which is part of the soundtrack for the upcoming F1 movie, ahead of the film’s release next week.\u00a0<\/p>\n

Sheeran’s Drive, featuring John Mayer on guitar and Dave Grohl on drums, joins the likes of Tate McRae’s Just Keep Watching,\u00a0ROS\u00c9’s\u00a0Messy, Don Toliver’s Lose My Mind, and Chris Stapleton’s Bad As I Used To Be on the soundtrack for the highly anticipated film.<\/p>\n

The latest single from the Grammy Award-winning artist is produced by Blake Slatkin and Mayer. Joining Sheeran, Mayer, and Grohl are legendary bassist Pino Palladino from Eric Clapton and The Who, and Rami Jaffee, who is the keyboardist for Foo Fighters and The Wallflowers.<\/p>\n

Sheeran previously explained to Billboard<\/a> that “the song fell out of us” when he joined Mayer and Slatkin in the studio, adding that Mayer “just whacked an octave pedal on and went wild.”<\/p>\n

\u201cMovies are my hobby and probably the only thing other than sport that I get, like, starstruck to be part of,\u201d Sheeran continued. \u201cNot just directors or actors or whatever, but being a part of the journey of a movie is so exciting for me.\u201d<\/p>\n

The 34-year-old singer-songwriter also shared the release on social media. “I got asked to do a song for the\u00a0F1 movie,” he wrote. “I knew that I wanted to make a proper rock song for it, a proper driving song. Something you\u2019d wanna turn up to the fullest amount whilst driving.<\/p>\n

“I wrote it in the studio with Blake Slatkin and John Mayer, then we got\u00a0Pino Paladino and Dave Grohl to be the final jigsaw pieces of the song. Pure dream team for the genre of rock, and I really feel what we created fits the scene in the movie so well.<\/p>\n

“I LOVE making songs for movies, ever since I did I See Fire for The Hobbit. It really lets me as a movie fan, behind the curtain, help create the perfect song for a scene in a movie. Movies and art are the only hobbies outside of music I really have, and I love my time at the F1 whenever I get to go play there.<\/p>\n

“So this was like a match made in heaven. I\u2019m so honoured to work with such great musicians on it, and hope you guys love the end result. Drive out now.”<\/p>\n
