\n Bethan Williams, from Cardiff, was recognised at the 2025 Career Development Institute (CDI) Awards in the category of Career Development Professional Working in Non-Education Settings.\n<\/p>\n
\n She was praised for her efforts to improve accessibility and inclusion for neurodivergent clients through her work with the Working Wales service.\n<\/p>\n
\n Ms Williams said: “I\u2019m absolutely over the moon to win this award.\n<\/p>\n
\n “It means a lot to know the work I\u2019ve done is making a real difference.\n<\/p>\n
\n “For many neurodivergent customers, visiting a careers centre can be overwhelming, so I wanted to create something that would make that experience more welcoming and less stressful.\n<\/p>\n
\n “I hope it encourages more people to access the support that is available to them.”\n<\/p>\n
\n Ms Williams developed an introductory support package featuring written and visual materials to help neurodivergent clients feel more at ease when visiting the centre.\n<\/p>\n
\n The pack includes a “Welcome Wall” with staff photos, names, and job titles.\n<\/p>\n
\n It also shows clients who their adviser will be on the day of their appointment to help reduce anxiety.\n<\/p>\n
\n She also played a key role in organising an Inclusive Jobs Fair at the Cardiff careers centre in January, which attracted more than 240 attendees.\n<\/p>\n
\n Nikki Lawrence, chief executive at Careers Wales, said: “We are thrilled that Bethan\u2019s outstanding work has been recognised on a national stage.\n<\/p>\n
\n “Ensuring our services are accessible and supportive of neurodiverse individuals is essential for building a truly impartial and inclusive system.\n<\/p>\n
\n “We want to make sure that each and every one of our customers can make informed career choices with tailored support that recognises their individual strengths and needs.\n<\/p>\n
