Charlie Mulgrew insists there’s no chance Kieran Tierney will turn his back on Scotland any time soon.<\/p>\n
The Celtic<\/a> defender has returned home after completing a stunning switch from Arsenal.<\/p>\n But the 28-year-old’s injury history means Brendan Rodgers<\/a> will have to carefully manage his game time.<\/p>\n Hoops captain Callum McGregor<\/a> retired from international football last summer at just 31 in a bid to prolong his club career.<\/p>\n However, Mulgrew<\/a> says Tierney still has plenty left in the tank before the Hampden Hall of Famer thinks about following suit.<\/p>\n He said: “I don’t see him as that type of person, but as you get older, you probably get a bit wiser in your thinking.<\/p>\n “If that’s something he might decide to do in the future, I don’t know. I don’t see him as that type of person.<\/p>\n “I think he’s pretty passionate and he wants to be involved and play as many games as he can.<\/p>\n “I’ve been there before when I’ve had injuries. It doesn’t stop you wanting to be involved with your country and your club.<\/p>\n “You’d need to ask him what he’s thinking going forward with that.<\/p>\n “For me, he’s the type of person who would like to play in as many games as he can play in.”<\/p>\n Mulgrew was part of the Parkhead dressing room when KT first exploded onto the scene.<\/p>\n And he reckons Celts have pulled off a major coup by re-signing the \u00a325million left-back on a free.<\/p>\n He said: “It’s brilliant. Somebody who’s probably coming into their prime in a few years.<\/p>\n “It’s amazing to have him back. Celtic are lucky to have him back. A brilliant, brilliant player.<\/p>\n “I think there are maybe question marks over injuries, but I’m sure that they’ll manage him well in that way.<\/p>\n “Celtic play loads of games, but there’s plenty of staff there who’ll manage him through their games.<\/p>\n “What a player to have back, somebody who wears his heart on his sleeve for the club. With that ability and that pedigree, it’s an amazing signing.”<\/p>\n Despite ongoing concerns over his fitness, Mulgrew believes Tierney will continue to train at full throttle.<\/p>\n He added: “That’s where the staff will come in. I remember playing with him, he used to just come out onto the pitch and start smashing balls at goals.<\/p>\n “I don’t know, he’s probably a bit older now. Runs about 100mph, but you wouldn’t change it any other way because that’s the habits you create in your training sessions every day, and that brings him onto the pitch.<\/p>\n “I think it’s just managing what days he trains.
