Mateo Joseph will outline his desire for more minutes when he returns to Leeds United following the European Under-21 Championships.<\/p>\n
The Birmingham City-linked<\/a> forward is currently leading the line for Spain out in Slovakia and will come up against with Jay Stansfield\u2019s<\/a> England this evening.<\/p>\n Joseph, 21, has been the subject of plenty of transfer interest in the last 12 months and he has admirers within the corridors of power at St Andrew\u2019s @ Knighthead Park,<\/a> but Real Betis appear to be the frontrunners for his signature.<\/p>\n Betis saw a \u00a310million offer rejected by Leeds at the end of the winter transfer window and are expected to test the waters again this summer.<\/p>\n Asked about Betis\u2019s interest, Joseph told AS:<\/a> \u201cThere are many players in the national team I’d like to play with. It would mean I’m at a great club. We’ll see what happens.<\/p>\n \u201cFor now, I’m focused on the European Championship, and my goal next year is to participate more.\u201d<\/p>\n He did, however, admit: \u201cThere’s no place like Spain. Of course, at some point I’d love to play in La Liga again.\u201d<\/p>\n Joseph played 39 games in the Championship last season as Leeds clinched the title and a return to the Premier League.<\/p>\n But Daniel Farke primarily used Joseph as a substitute, meaning he only played 1,271 Championship minutes.<\/p>\n The striker will hold talks with Leeds officials over his future once Spain\u2019s Euros campaign concludes.<\/p>\n Joseph added: \u201cThe lack of clarity about my future doesn’t affect me. I’m very focused on the tournament and will have to talk to Leeds, with whom I haven’t yet. Then whatever happens will happen, which is certainly the best thing for everyone.
