Jake Paul<\/a> could move a step closer to securing himself a world title shot later this month.<\/p>\n

The 28-year-old from Cleveland will face Mexico\u2019s former WBC world middleweight champion Julio Cesar Chavez Jr<\/a> on Saturday June 28 at the Honda Center in Anaheim, California.<\/p>\n

Paul\u2019s most recent ring appearance came against the now retired heavyweight great \u2018Iron\u2019 Mike Tyson, defeating the 58-year-old via unanimous decision at the conclusion of their controversial eight rounder at the AT&T Stadium in Texas.<\/p>\n

\u2018The Problem Child\u2019 has been victorious in all but one of his professional bouts since making his debut back in 2020, suffering the only defeat of his career to Britain\u2019s Tommy Fury, who defeated Paul via split decision when they fought in Diriyah back in February 2023.<\/p>\n

Speaking to Sky Sports Boxing<\/a> before their bout two years ago, Fury responded to the claims made by Paul that he will secure himself a world title shot in the near future, needing just a few words to make his feelings clear.<\/p>\n

\u201cThat\u2019s like saying a pig\u2019s going to fly.\u201d<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n

Despite Fury\u2019s opinion, Paul could turn his dream into a reality should he be victorious over Chavez later this month. While some hope that the Chavez Jr of old may be back, Paul is expected by most to defeat the former WBC middleweight champion in impressive fashion.<\/p>\n

Another option for \u2018The Problem Child\u2019 following his bout against Chavez could be a shock catchweight showdown with WBA lightweight champion Gervonta Davis, after it was reported that the pair were in negotiations for a fight that could take place before the end of the year.<\/a><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"Jake Paul could move a step closer to securing himself a world title shot later this month.
