{"id":204732,"date":"2025-06-22T09:04:35","date_gmt":"2025-06-22T09:04:35","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/uk\/204732\/"},"modified":"2025-06-22T09:04:35","modified_gmt":"2025-06-22T09:04:35","slug":"bbc-breakfast-star-naga-munchetty-left-really-offended-by-colleagues-remark","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/uk\/204732\/","title":{"rendered":"BBC Breakfast star Naga Munchetty left &#8216;really offended&#8217; by colleague&#8217;s remark"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Naga Munchetty has said she was left &#8220;really offended&#8221; by a comment made by one of her colleagues, in regards to her appointment as a presenter on BBC Breakfast<\/p>\n<p><strong class=\"Strong_strong__e2x35 __className_7b2af9\">Christopher Sharp<\/strong> Trendswatch Reporter<\/p>\n<p>06:00, 21 Jun 2025<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/uk\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/06\/0_GettyImages-2161337069-1.jpg\" alt=\"Naga Munchetty\" loading=\"eager\"  \/>Naga Munchetty said she was &#8220;really offended&#8221; by a colleague&#8217;s remark(Image: Getty)<\/p>\n<p class=\"Paragraph_paragraph-text__PVKlh \"><a class=\"TextLink_text-link__dBSS0 TextLink_enabled__dJF3l\" href=\"https:\/\/www.bristolpost.co.uk\/all-about\/bbc-breakfast\" target=\"_self\" aria-label=\"\" tabindex=\"0\" rel=\"noopener\">BBC Breakfast <\/a>presenter <a class=\"TextLink_text-link__dBSS0 TextLink_enabled__dJF3l\" href=\"https:\/\/www.bristolpost.co.uk\/news\/celebs-tv\/naga-munchetty-shares-sad-reason-10276706\" target=\"_self\" aria-label=\"\" tabindex=\"0\" rel=\"noopener\">Naga Munchetty<\/a> has admitted she was left in despair over a colleague&#8217;s insensitive remark about her career.<\/p>\n<p class=\"Paragraph_paragraph-text__PVKlh \">Naga, 50, was speaking on the Second Act with Ateh Jewel podcast when she started reflecting upon the early days of her professional life.<\/p>\n<p class=\"Paragraph_paragraph-text__PVKlh \">Naga has been working on <a class=\"TextLink_text-link__dBSS0 TextLink_enabled__dJF3l\" href=\"https:\/\/www.bristolpost.co.uk\/all-about\/bbc\" target=\"\" aria-label=\"\" tabindex=\"0\" rel=\"noopener\">BBC<\/a> Breakfast since 2010, and told Ateh that she was told repeatedly by online trolls that she was the \u201ctoken appointment\u201d and a box-ticking exercise.<\/p>\n<p class=\"Paragraph_paragraph-text__PVKlh \">She added that this statement came up again when she was talking to an unnamed colleague about how she was initially perceived.<\/p>\n<p class=\"Paragraph_paragraph-text__PVKlh \">Naga explained: \u201cIn the early days, I was told repeatedly I was the token appointment, I was ticking a box.<\/p>\n<p class=\"Paragraph_paragraph-text__PVKlh \">\u201cI spoke to a colleague not so long ago who was talking to me about different opportunities, and I was talking about how when I got Breakfast, I was seen as the token appointment and they actually said to me, \u2018Well, but you\u2019re not anymore are you? Because you\u2019ve proven yourself in the job\u2019.<\/p>\n<p class=\"Paragraph_paragraph-text__PVKlh \">\u201cThey didn\u2019t know what they said, and I\u2019m really offended, and I just thought, \u2018I haven\u2019t got time to explain to you what you\u2019ve just said\u2019.\u201d<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/uk\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/06\/0_GettyImages-1494916409-1.jpg\" alt=\"Naga Munchetty\" loading=\"lazy\"  \/>Naga has been open about her adenomyosis diagnosis in recent years<\/p>\n<p class=\"Paragraph_paragraph-text__PVKlh \">Elsewhere on the podcast, Naga opened up about her personal battle with <a class=\"TextLink_text-link__dBSS0 TextLink_enabled__dJF3l\" href=\"https:\/\/www.bristolpost.co.uk\/news\/celebs-tv\/naga-munchetty-says-crippling-health-10270096?service=responsive\" target=\"_self\" aria-label=\"\" tabindex=\"0\" rel=\"noopener\">adenomyosis <\/a>and what happens when the condition spreads.<\/p>\n<p class=\"Paragraph_paragraph-text__PVKlh \">She said: \u201cWhen it&#8217;s spread outside the uterus, it goes into the muscle, and so when it grows, it tears the muscle.<\/p>\n<p class=\"Paragraph_paragraph-text__PVKlh \">\u201cIt&#8217;s spread into my upper thighs and my lower back, and so that&#8217;s when you have [flare-ups]. I now take medication to control, suppress the production of my hormones so that these don&#8217;t flare.\u201d<\/p>\n<p class=\"Paragraph_paragraph-text__PVKlh \">Naga first started talking about her adenomyosis diagnosis in 2023 and has campaigned for improvements to women\u2019s <a class=\"TextLink_text-link__dBSS0 TextLink_enabled__dJF3l\" href=\"https:\/\/www.bristolpost.co.uk\/all-about\/health\" target=\"_self\" aria-label=\"\" tabindex=\"0\" rel=\"noopener\">health <\/a>in the UK.<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/uk\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/06\/0_GettyImages-2182160694.jpg\" alt=\"Naga Munchetty\" loading=\"lazy\"  \/>Naga&#8217;s story has been an inspiration to many<\/p>\n<p class=\"Paragraph_paragraph-text__PVKlh \">Adenomyosis is a condition that affects the lining of the womb, known as the endometrium, and can grow within the muscular wall of the womb as well.<\/p>\n<p class=\"Paragraph_paragraph-text__PVKlh \">Speaking on BBC Radio 5 Live, she described just how painful the condition has been for her. She said: \u201cThe pain was so terrible I couldn&#8217;t move, turn over, sit up. I screamed non-stop for 45 minutes. Right now as I sit here talking to you: I am in pain. Constant, nagging pain. In my uterus. Around my pelvis.<\/p>\n<p class=\"Paragraph_paragraph-text__PVKlh \">\u201cSometimes it runs down my thighs.
