Police have released six CCTV images of men they wish to speak to after violence broke out on Deansgate<\/a> the night before Manchester United played FC Twente.<\/p>\n

United faced the Dutch side in the Europa League on Wednesday, September 24 last year, with the match ending in a 1-1 draw.<\/p>\n

But 24 hours earlier, on the evening of Tuesday, September 23, disorder broke out in the city centre<\/a>.<\/p>\n

An eyewitness told the Manchester Evening News at the time that ‘around 100 young men wearing balaclavas and black clothing’ were seen storming Deansgate – letting fireworks off ‘towards people’ and ‘causing panic in the area’.<\/p>\n

“The situation escalated quickly, and the police were called in to deal with the chaos,” the taxi driver said.<\/p>\n

“People were screaming and trying to get away from the scene, and Deansgate became a zone of panic.”<\/p>\n

FC Twente supporters were understood to have been involved in the disorder at the time.<\/p>\n

Greater Manchester Police<\/a> says it has made 17 arrests in connection with the disorder so far.<\/p>\n

Those previously arrested all remain on police bail while enquiries continue.<\/p>\n

The force has today (June 22) issued CCTV images of six men officers want to speak to following the chaos.<\/p>\n

The men pictured, or anyone with information that could help GMP, are urged to come forward.<\/p>\n
