THE Scots of Serie A have been all the rage this season.<\/p>\n

And tonight it was again the turn of Scott McTominay<\/a> to fly the Tartan flag in Italy. <\/p>\n

There were some personal milestones for the midfielder in the matchCredit: Getty<\/p>\n

The midfielder has been a key player for Napoli<\/a> in his debut campaign in Serie A<\/a>, immediately earning the trust of Antonio Conte<\/a>.<\/p>\n

And he was on form again against Empoli, firing in TWO goals to keep the Azzurri in the hunt for the Italian title.<\/p>\n

The 3-0 win, with ex-Manchester United and Chelsea<\/a> striker Romelu Lukaku<\/a> also on the scoresheet, kept Napoli within three points of leaders and champions Inter Milan<\/a>.<\/p>\n

And as well as propelling his team to the win, McTominay’s goals secured a bit of personal pride for another of Manchester United<\/a>‘s former stars.<\/p>\n

Firstly, with his seventh and eighth goals of the campaign, this is now the 28-year-old’s highest-scoring league season of his career.<\/p>\n

And the second milestone was perhaps even more satisfyingly for the Old Trafford academy graduate.<\/p>\n

No Man United player has now scored more goals in the Premier League<\/a> this term than McTominay has in Serie A.<\/p>\n

His brace, a long-range drive low and past the keeper and a bullet header high into net, brought him level with his former captain Bruno Fernandes. <\/p>\n

The Scot was lining up alongside compatriot Billy Gilmour<\/a>, who moved to Serie A alongside his international teammate in the summer.<\/p>\n

The former Brighton<\/a> ace had to bide his time to make a similar impact to McTominay, but after breaking back into the team last month<\/a>, he’s become a regular under Conte. <\/p>\n

Napoli fans try and fail to prounce ‘Scott McTominay’<\/p>\n

And the pair lined up another of their fellow countrymen, as ex-Hibs and Celtic<\/a> midfielder Liam Henderson<\/a> started the match for Empoli.<\/p>\n

Henderson quit Parkhead to join Serie B Bari in 2018, and has since played for Hellas Verona, Lecce, Palermo and now Empoli in Italy.<\/p>\n
