The cast of \u201cThe Breakfast Club<\/a>\u201d reunited over the weekend for the first time in 40 years.<\/p>\n

Stars of the 1980s coming-of-age movie took to the stage at the Chicago Comic and Entertainment Expo on Saturday.<\/p>\n

\u201cI feel really, very emotional and moved to have us all together,\u201d said Molly Ringwald, who played Claire in the movie. \u201cThis is the first time that Emilio (Est\u00e8vez) has joined us. We don\u2019t have to use the cardboard cut-out anymore.\u201d<\/p>\n

Est\u00e8vez, who played Andrew, said joining the reunion was \u201csomething that finally I felt I needed to do, just for myself,\u201d adding that it was special to return to Chicago where they shot the film.<\/p>\n

The actors remembered the film\u2019s late director, John Hughes, who was also known for iconic teen movies like \u201cSixteen Candles\u201d and \u201cFerris Bueller\u2019s Day Off.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cHughes explained to us the differences between the young and old, so now is the time for him to show us where we meet in the end, cause we\u2019re all older now,\u201d said Judd Nelson, who played John Bender. \u201cBut we\u2019re not gonna get that, which is sad.\u201d<\/p>\n

Est\u00e8vez also revealed that he \u201cpassed out\u201d when the cast first met, having had his wisdom teeth taken out the day before. According to Est\u00e8vez, after their first readthrough of the script, Hughes proposed viewing the first cut of \u201cSixteen Candles,\u201d which Ringwald and Anthony Michael Hall both starred in.<\/p>\n

\u201cI don\u2019t think I made it through the opening credits, and I passed out,\u201d said Est\u00e8vez. \u201cI woke up at the end credits and I looked at Judd and Judd says, \u2018I think you\u2019re getting fired.\u2019\u201d<\/p>\n

Ringwald, who was 16 when they shot \u201cThe Breakfast Club,\u201d said re-watching it years later with her children was a \u201cwild experience\u201d that changed her parenting.<\/p>\n

\u201cIf you would\u2019ve told me when I was 16 years old (that) one day I would be watching that movie with my 10-year-old and (it\u2019d) change the way that I parent. I mean it\u2019s just mind-blowing,\u201d she said. The actress admitted that, at the time, her daughter may have been too young to watch the movie. However, speaking about the characters her daughter identified with \u201copened up this incredible conversation.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cAnd then I watched the movie recently with my 15-year-olds, little more age appropriate, and I have to say that they didn\u2019t pick up their phones once, which to me\u2026 that was a win,\u201d Ringwald added.<\/p>\n
