The firm\u2019s first steps on this path in 2025 should see it hit a new qubit record, and it eventually plans to more than triple the size of the largest existing quantum computer.<\/p>\n<p>It has only been six years since <a href=\"https:\/\/www.newscientist.com\/article\/2189909-ibm-unveils-its-first-commercial-quantum-computer\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">IBM unveiled its first commercial quantum computer<\/a>.
