{"id":205919,"date":"2025-06-22T20:13:13","date_gmt":"2025-06-22T20:13:13","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/uk\/205919\/"},"modified":"2025-06-22T20:13:13","modified_gmt":"2025-06-22T20:13:13","slug":"bride-shot-dead-13-year-old-wounded-by-masked-gunmen-at-wedding-party-in-france","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/uk\/205919\/","title":{"rendered":"Bride shot dead, 13-year-old wounded by masked gunmen at wedding party in France"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Armed men opened fire at a wedding party in southeastern France early Sunday, killing the bride and wounding three others, said a source close to the investigation.<\/p>\n<p>The attack in the village of Goult occurred around 4:30 am.<\/p>\n<p>According to initial information, the bride and groom were leaving the party when they were confronted by masked assailants who opened fire, the source close to the investigation added.<\/p>\n<p>The bride died and one of the attackers was killed, run over by the bride and groom&#8217;s car as they tried to escape, the source said.<\/p>\n<p>A large-scale operation involving around 100 police has been launched to find those responsible for the shooting, according to the source.<\/p>\n<p>The three injured people were the groom, his sister and a 13-year-old child, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.lefigaro.fr\/faits-divers\/une-fusillade-dans-un-mariage-du-vaucluse-a-fait-deux-morts-dont-la-mariee-20250622\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\">according to Le Figaro<\/a>. Officials did not say if the child was related to the couple, but a source close to the case <a href=\"https:\/\/www.thesun.co.uk\/news\/35516224\/bride-shot-dead-wedding-day-france-gang\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\">told the Sun<\/a> the 13-year-old was the newlyweds&#8217; son.<\/p>\n<p>      <img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/uk\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/06\/gettyimages-2220716372.jpg\" alt=\"FRANCE-CRIME-POLICE \" height=\"413\" width=\"620\" class=\" lazyload\"  loading=\"lazy\"\/><\/p>\n<p>                  A pedestrian walks in a street of the town where a fatal shooting took place during a wedding party in Goult, in the southern French department of Vaucluse, on June 22, 2025.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>                GABRIEL BOUYS\/AFP via Getty Images<\/p>\n<p>The Avignon prosecutor&#8217;s office has opened an investigation for &#8220;murder and attempted murder by an organized gang,&#8221; Le Figaro reported.<\/p>\n<p>Investigators are looking into whether the shooting had to do with a possible settling of scores.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;I think it was targeted,&#8221; the town&#8217;s mayor, Didier Perello, told reporters, according to Le Figaro.<\/p>\n<p>Goult is located in southeast France, about 55 miles north of of Marseille, a port city that has been recently shaken by <a href=\"https:\/\/www.bbc.com\/news\/articles\/c4glwdx3p22o\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\">drug-related violence<\/a>.
