{"id":206160,"date":"2025-06-22T22:23:09","date_gmt":"2025-06-22T22:23:09","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/uk\/206160\/"},"modified":"2025-06-22T22:23:09","modified_gmt":"2025-06-22T22:23:09","slug":"openai-pulls-promotional-materials-around-jony-ive-deal","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/uk\/206160\/","title":{"rendered":"OpenAI pulls promotional materials around Jony Ive deal"},"content":{"rendered":"<p id=\"speakable-summary\" class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">OpenAI appears to have pulled a <a href=\"https:\/\/techcrunch.com\/podcast\/openai-goes-all-in-with-jony-ive-as-google-plays-ai-catchup\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">much-discussed<\/a> video promoting the friendship between CEO Sam Altman and legendary Apple designer Jony Ive (plus, incidentally, <a href=\"https:\/\/techcrunch.com\/2025\/05\/21\/jony-ive-to-lead-openais-design-work-following-6-5b-acquisition-of-his-company\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">OpenAI\u2019s $6.5 billion deal to acquire Ive and Altman\u2019s device startup io<\/a>) from its <a rel=\"nofollow noopener\" href=\"https:\/\/openai.com\/sam-and-jony\/\" target=\"_blank\">website<\/a> and YouTube page.<\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Does that suggest something is amiss with the acquisition, or with plans for Ive to lead design work at OpenAI? Not exactly, <a rel=\"nofollow\" href=\"https:\/\/x.com\/markgurman\/status\/1936887629993464248\">according to Bloomberg\u2019s Mark Gurman<\/a>, who reports that the \u201cdeal is on track and has NOT dissolved or anything of the sort.\u201d Instead, he said a judge has issued a restraining order over the io name, forcing the company to pull all materials that used it.<\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">And indeed, an earlier report at Bloomberg Law noted that AI device maker IYO has <a rel=\"nofollow noopener\" href=\"https:\/\/news.bloomberglaw.com\/ip-law\/judge-probes-bid-to-bar-openais-use-of-io-in-trademark-suit\" target=\"_blank\">brought a trademark lawsuit against OpenAI<\/a>, with the judge suggesting she\u2019s open to IYO\u2019s argument that OpenAI\u2019s promotional video might already be creating consumer confusion.<\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">TechCrunch has reached out to OpenAI for comment.
