Earlier this week Which? revealed a list of the UK\u2019s best beach towns<\/a>. In a survey of more than 5,000 members, Which?<\/a> ranked\u00a0seaside towns across the country for their\u00a0beach, seafront, scenery, tourist attractions, and peace and quiet.\u00a0<\/p>\n

But as well as unveiling the top spot (that went to\u00a0Bamburgh in Northumberland), the ranking also named Britain\u2019s worst beach town with the lowest ranking.\u00a0<\/p>\n

We\u2019re sorry Bangor<\/strong>, but Which? has named you the worst seaside spot in the UK. The Welsh town had an overall score of just 42 percent, with\u00a0one-star ratings for food and drink, tourist attractions, and shopping. The town in Gwynedd scored two stars for everything else, and was described as \u2018drab\u2019 and \u2018run down\u2019 by survey respondents.\u00a0However, Bangor did have one saving grace: it was called a good base\u00a0for visiting the \u2018fabulous\u2019 scenery and coast of North Wales.<\/p>\n

We\u2019re also not sure we entirely agree with the Which? survey, as Time Out\u2019s local experts named Bangor\u2019s Garth Pier as one of the best places to visit in North Wales<\/a>.<\/p>\n

Mablethorpe in Lincolnshire was the second-lowest rated town, scoring 46 percent overall and one star for scenery, tourist attractions and food and drink. However, Mablethorpe scored a solid three stars for its beaches.\u00a0Other traditional seaside towns also did poorly, with Great Yarmouth, Blackpool, Clacton-on-Sea, Skegness, Bognor Regis and Southend all among the lowest rated beach resorts.\u00a0<\/p>\n
