{"id":206766,"date":"2025-06-23T04:11:08","date_gmt":"2025-06-23T04:11:08","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/uk\/206766\/"},"modified":"2025-06-23T04:11:08","modified_gmt":"2025-06-23T04:11:08","slug":"daniil-medvedev-makes-alcaraz-wimbledon-plea-for-halle-winner-bublik","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/uk\/206766\/","title":{"rendered":"Daniil Medvedev makes Alcaraz Wimbledon plea for Halle winner Bublik"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Having lost to him in the Halle Open final,\u00a0Daniil Medvedev has one request for\u00a0Alexander Bublik \u2013 be on Carlos Alcaraz\u2019s side of the draw.<\/p>\n<p>Bublik, who won his fifth ATP Tour singles title after deating\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.tennis365.com\/tag\/daniil-medvedev\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><strong>Medvedev<\/strong><\/a> 6-3, 7-6, built a repatuon of a giant killer having knocked out Jannik Sinner on the way to the German final.<\/p>\n<p>That performance came after <a href=\"https:\/\/www.tennis365.com\/tag\/alexander-bublik\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><strong>Bublik<\/strong><\/a> the world No. 45, defeated ninth seed Alex de Minaur and fifith seed Jack Draper at the French Open.<\/p>\n<p>And having taken his latest scalp, the No. 11 ranked\u00a0Medvedev, the Russian had one request:<\/p>\n<p>\u201cFirst of all Sasha, big congrats to you and your team,\u201d\u00a0Medvedev said after collecting his runner\u2019s up trophy. \u201cI hope you\u2019re in Carlos\u2019 draw at Wimbledon..<\/p>\n<p>\u201cPlease Carlos or Jannik draw at Wimbledon.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Bublik responded with his own compliments to\u00a0Medvedev with the Russian winning al six of their games ahead of the final.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cDaniil, I\u2019ve been cursed to play you forever and never won a set in my life, but today I\u2019m happy to get through, and I wish you \u2014 you\u2019re a great champion \u2014 I wish you a lot of success,\u201d Bublik told his opponent afterward. \u201cI mean, to win, to beat you here, it\u2019s a privilege for me.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>As for his own perofmance, Medvedev\u00a0was left without \u201cthe best feeling\u201d following his first final since March 2024.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cA better week, maybe, than we expected but not the best feeling in the end,\u201d Medvedev said. \u201cWe try to do better next time.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Bublik, meanwhile, is celebrating his second win in Halle, having been victoruous in 2023.<\/p>\n<p>More tennis news from Tennis365<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.tennis365.com\/tennis-features\/prize-money-points-won-by-medvedev-bublik-sinner-zverev-halle\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><strong>Prize money &amp; points won by Medvedev, Bublik, Sinner, Zverev &amp; co in Halle<\/strong><\/a><\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.tennis365.com\/atp-tour\/prize-money-points-won-by-alcaraz-lehecka-draper-rune-co-at-queens\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><strong>Prize money &amp; points won by Alcaraz, Lehecka, Draper, Rune &amp; co at Queen\u2019s<\/strong><\/a><\/p>\n<p>\u201cIt\u2019s tough to speak,\u201d Bublik said to Tennis TV.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI had such tough months since last Wimbledon until probably this summer. I was close to calling it quit [sic] after Wimbledon because I was not enjoying it anymore.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI promised my coach that I\u2019d stay there, that I will keep practising, after Wimbledon I will make a decision if I need to take a couple of months off before trying to come back.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWell, 1750651868 this is happening.
