A new kebab shop will be opening in the city centre<\/a> later this week offering \u2018next-generation\u2019 meals and even a chocolate doner kebab.<\/p>\n

Great British Doner (GBD) will be opening its flagship store in Deansgate<\/a> on Friday (June 27) serving up their range of doner kebabs made with British-sourced beef and chicken, as well as vegetarian and vegan options.<\/p>\n

The creation of Turkish-born entrepreneur and restaurateur Mehmet Nezir Korkut, the arrival of the street food<\/a> venture comes following his 25 years of experience working in the hospitality industry and of his time spent running Manchester institution Caf\u00e9 Istanbul.<\/p>\n

Opening in Barton Arcade, the kebab shop aims to deliver \u2018restaurant-level quality in a casual format\u2019, with all wraps, burgers and boxes served with fresh salad, as well as house sauces including GBD Sauce, jalape\u00f1o cheese, hot chilli, and garlic & herb.<\/p>\n

It has been hailed as the home to the \u2018biggest\u2019 doner kebab available in Manchester, thanks to the large-scale vertical rotisserie used to cook it. Alongside beef and chicken, there will be halloumi and falafel to choose from, alongside a vegan doner which is made using spiced vegetables and hummus.<\/p>\n

\u201cGreat British Doner is about more than just food,\u201d founder Mehmet said. \u201cIt is about culture, connection, and creating something that celebrates tradition while embracing modern British taste. Our mission is simple: serve great doner with quality, integrity, and bold flavour.\u201d<\/p>\n

In addition to its meat and vegan options, there will also be an unusual frozen chocolate doner available for dessert – featuring rich chocolate shavings poured on top of a warm pancake.<\/p>\n

There will also be a selection of bottomless soft drinks to order, which will include traditional Turkish Ayran – a popular Turkish salty yogurt drink – and a turnip-based \u015falgam juice. There will also be a dedicated kids menu serving up mini doner wraps, burgers or nuggets with fries and fruit juice.<\/p>\n

To coincide with the opening on Friday (June 27), the first 100 guests in line from 5pm will receive a free doner. In addition, one lucky diner will also receive a Golden Wrap – entitling them to free donors for an entire year.<\/p>\n

There will also be exclusive branded merchandise up for grabs for 20 guests who attend on Friday evening.<\/p>\n

The Deansgate venue is the first of three planned for the city centre, with its venues aimed to \u2018redefine the kebab the British way\u2019.<\/p>\n
