{"id":207708,"date":"2025-06-23T13:05:09","date_gmt":"2025-06-23T13:05:09","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/uk\/207708\/"},"modified":"2025-06-23T13:05:09","modified_gmt":"2025-06-23T13:05:09","slug":"kate-middletons-old-school-marlborough-college-to-be-transformed","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/uk\/207708\/","title":{"rendered":"Kate Middleton&#8217;s old school Marlborough College to be transformed"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>\n  Marlborough College in Wiltshire has a rich history dating back to 1843, and has been a &#8216;home away from home&#8217;\u00a0for\u00a0some of the UK&#8217;s most famous celebrities.\n<\/p>\n<p>\n  Former pupils include\u00a0Princess Kate, her siblings Pippa and James Middleton, comedian Jack Whitehall, author Dick King-Smith, Princess Eugenie and Samantha Cameron (David Cameron&#8217;s wife) to name a few.\n<\/p>\n<p>\n  Now, plans have been submitted to partially demolish and transform a listed building on the site which dates back to the 1800s.\n<\/p>\n<p>\n  The plans, which were first submitted to Wiltshire Council on June 13, 2025, propose a refurbishment, remodel and extension of the college&#8217;s Master&#8217;s Lodge, to provide facilities for day pupils.\n<\/p>\n<p>\n  The Grade-II listed building acted as a residence for senior college staff until recently, but it now sits unused.\n<\/p>\n<p>\n  <img   alt=\"The lodge has a rich history dating back to the 1800s\" style=\"width: 100%;\"\/>The lodge has a rich history dating back to the 1800s (Image: Google Maps) <img   style=\"width: 100%;\"\/>The school has housed several famous faces\u00a0(Image: Newsquest) &#8220;The building has been recognised for its architectural and historical significance,&#8221; the planning application reads.\n<\/p>\n<p>\n  &#8220;Designed by architect Edward Blore, it was constructed between 1845 and 1850.
