Leicester City are plotting a move to sign Leeds United forward Sam Greenwood following their relegation from the Premier League.<\/strong><\/p>\n That is according to former Man United and Blackburn chief scout Mick Brown, who remains very well-connected within the game, as he exclusively told Football Insider<\/strong> that the 23-year-old is among their options to replace Jamie Vardy.<\/p>\n Leicester are in the market for a new striker after Vardy announced he would leave the club upon the expiry of his contract at the end of this month.<\/p>\n Football Insider<\/strong> exclusively revealed on 9 May that Wolves are in pole position to sign Vardy<\/a> while the likes of Leeds and Wrexham have also been linked.<\/p>\n Meanwhile, Greenwood\u2019s contract at Elland Road is set to expire in 2026, and Leeds are expected to be open to offers as he is no longer a part of Daniel Farke<\/a>\u2018s plans.<\/p>\n The forward spent last season on loan at Preston North End where he latest<\/strong><\/p>\n Football Insider<\/strong> revealed that Leeds want to sign a new striker<\/a> as a priority this summer in a move that would see Greenwood forced even further down the pecking order.<\/p>\n Brown, who has a wealth of experience in top-level player recruitment after over a decade at Man United during their most successful period, insisted the forward would benefit from joining Leicester while they are keen to add hard-working players to the squad.<\/p>\n \u201cLeicester are planning to sign solid, dependable players,\u201d he told Football Insider.<\/strong><\/p>\n \u201cDropping down to the Championship, the pressure of playing twice a week can build up and you need players who are used to it and willing to work hard.<\/p>\n \u201cGreenwood is one of those players, he\u2019s been doing it at that level for a while now.<\/p>\n \u201cI don\u2019t think he\u2019s good enough for the Premier League and he\u2019s not going to get game time at Leeds.<\/p>\n \u201cSo if he\u2019s going to be leaving there, I think he would benefit from joining somebody like Leicester.<\/p>\n \u201cThey\u2019ve been looking at him as one of these dependable options who isn\u2019t going to set the world alight but will do a job for the team.<\/p>\n \u201cLeicester haven\u2019t had enough of those types of players and that\u2019s been their problem.<\/p>\n \u201cOn top of that, they want to bring in a new striker because they\u2019ve lost Jamie Vardy.<\/p>\n \u201cSo it\u2019s a deal that would make a lot of sense for all parties if they can pull it off.\u201d<\/p>\n On top of their ambitions of signing a new forward, Leicester are also aiming to strengthen in goal after losing Daniel Iversen and Danny Ward on free transfers.<\/p>\n Football Insider<\/strong> exclusively revealed on 20 June that Leicester want to sign Asmir Begovic, who is set to leave Everton upon the expiry of his contract.<\/p>\n Southampton are also in the race for Begovic as they fear losing first-choice keeper Aaron Ramsdale<\/a> following their relegation from the Premier League.<\/p>\n He has emerged as a target for the relegated duo due to his availability
