The UK police<\/a> have prohibited the campaign group Palestine<\/a> Action from protesting outside Parliament on Monday, following a military base break-in by two of its members last week and amid government deliberations over potentially banning the organisation.<\/p>\n

The group said in response that it had changed the location of its protest on Monday to Trafalgar Square, which lies just outside a police exclusion zone.<\/p>\n

The pro-Palestinian organisation is among groups that have regularly targeted defence firms and other companies in Britain linked to Israel since the start of the conflict in Gaza.<\/p>\n

British media have reported that the government is considering proscribing, or effectively banning, Palestine Action, as a terrorist organisation, putting it on a par with al-Qaeda or ISIS.<\/p>\n

London\u2019s Metropolitan Police said late on Sunday that it would impose an exclusion zone for a protest planned by Palestine Action outside the Houses of Parliament \u2013 a popular location for demonstrations in support of a range of causes.<\/p>\n

\u201cThe right to protest is essential and we will always defend it, but actions in support of such a group go beyond what most would see as legitimate protest,\u201d Met Police Commissioner Mark Rowley said.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe have laid out to the Government the operational basis on which to consider proscribing this group.\u201d<\/p>\n

Interior minister Yvette Cooper will make a statement to parliament later on Monday, finance minister Rachel Reeves told reporters on Monday, when asked about the group.<\/p>\n

Palestine Action\u2019s members are alleged to have caused millions of pounds of criminal damage, assaulted a police officer with a sledgehammer, and, in the incident last week, damaged two military aircraft, Rowley added.<\/p>\n

RAF Base Break-In<\/strong><\/p>\n

Last week, pro-Palestinian activists breached a Royal Air Force (RAF) base in central England, defacing two refuelling and transport aircraft with red paint and causing damage.<\/p>\n

Palestine Action said two members had entered the Brize Norton base in Oxfordshire, putting paint into the engines of the Voyager aircraft and further damaging them with crowbars.<\/p>\n

\u201cDespite publicly condemning the Israeli government, Britain continues to send military cargo, fly spy planes over Gaza and refuel U.S.\/Israeli fighter jets,\u201d the group said in a statement, posting a video of the incident on X.<\/p>\n

\u201cBritain isn\u2019t just complicit, it\u2019s an active participant in the Gaza genocide and war crimes across the Middle East.\u201d<\/p>\n
