An event that came to be known as \u2018Independence Day\u2019\u2026<\/p>\n<p>The date has been celebrated since it occurred by <a href=\"https:\/\/x.com\/Nigel_Farage\/status\/1672181624602066944\">Brexiteers<\/a> and <a href=\"https:\/\/x.com\/RishiSunak\/status\/1804799897050194068\">PMs<\/a> alike. Remainer doomsaying on the economy has not come to pass. Some backbench Labour MPs are having <a href=\"https:\/\/x.com\/JonathanBrash\/status\/1937152920618701075\">fun<\/a> with it. <a style=\"color: #d50000;\" href=\"https:\/\/x.com\/Keir_Starmer\">Nothing<\/a> from the top of the party so far\u2026<\/p>\n<p>Starmer and his ministers have kept strangely silent on the anniversary of the historic vote. The PM campaigned for its reversal in opposition\u2026<\/p>\n<p>In government he continues to take steps to do so:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Sign EU <a href=\"https:\/\/order-order.com\/2025\/06\/04\/government-confirms-stamers-eu-e-gates-deal-wont-do-anything\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">deal<\/a> to hand over fishing rights for fake e-gate benefits.<\/li>\n<li>Sign on to dynamic alignment with EU rules. Making the UK a rule-taker\u2026<\/li>\n<li>Take steps to implement a youth mobility scheme. Closer to free movement\u2026<\/li>\n<li>Created a new <a href=\"https:\/\/www.google.com\/url?sa=i&amp;url=https%3A%2F%2Forder-order.com%2F2024%2F12%2F12%2Flabour-creates-huge-new-eu-hub-in-cabinet-office-for-closer-relations-with-bloc%2F&amp;psig=AOvVaw1GurHqtlzu7aNor7qp2DLd&amp;ust=1750777641615000&amp;source=images&amp;cd=vfe&amp;opi=89978449&amp;ved=0CBcQjhxqFwoTCMC_rI7ph44DFQAAAAAdAAAAABAE\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">unit<\/a> of civil servants dedicated to bringing the UK closer to the EU.<\/li>\n<li>Brought UK under ECJ jurisdiction again.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>No wonder Labour has been instructed to keep schtum.
