Now recovered, Scalvini is believed to be one to watch for Newcastle United fans.

It will not be the first time Newcastle have bought a player of high quality from Serie A either. Sandro Tonali signed from AC Milan in 2023 and was one of Howe’s most important players in the 2024/25 campaign, helping Newcastle win their first trophy since 1969.

Newcastle fans are getting excited about the transfer window, and they may be sent into meltdown after Fabrizio Romano’s latest message on Scalvini.

Photo by Francesco Scaccianoce/Getty ImagesGiorgio Scalvini is high on Newcastle United’s list of targets, says Fabrizio Romano

Thankfully, it is great news from Romano as well. The Italian recently confirmed that Newcastle and Burnley are in talks for James Trafford, now he has provided another positive update, this time about Scalvini.

On his Romano’s Instagram story, Romano said: “Scalvini songo Newcastle”, which translates to “Scalvini dream Newcastle.” That three-word message appears to suggest that Newcastle have a new dream signing, and that it is indeed Scalvini.

The deal makes sense for Newcastle. He is a player who may be available for a smaller price tag due to his recent injuries, and someone who still has a lot of time to develop into a much better star.

A deal like this is similar to that of Tino Livramento’s in 2023. The right-back was just returning from a season-ending injury at Southampton, and that is when Newcastle pounced on the opportunity to sign him.

Sporting director Paul Mitchell suggested Newcastle paid too much for Livramento, but his £32m transfer fee appears to have been one that is now worth every penny.

Newcastle United are shaping up to have a youthful back line

One of the main reasons why Newcastle are looking for a new centre-back is due to the ages of their current options. Dan Burn is 33, while Fabian Schar is 34. The pair were arguably two of Newcastle’s best players last season, but there will naturally be concerns over how long they can perform at a high level.

If Newcastle are to sign Scalvini, they could line up with a very young back four. The oldest of which would be 25-year-old Sven Botman, who has struggled with knee injuries in his own right.

Young Newcastle United players and targets

Age

Sven Botman

25

Tino Livramento

22

Lewis Hall

21

Giorgio Scalvini*

21

Cathal Heffernan

20

Alex Murphy

20

Despite their ages, many would believe that Lewis Hall and Livramento have been playing for years due to their unbelievable talent and immense quality.

Howe is known for giving young players a chance at Newcastle, so Scalvini will be one of many promising talents who will be part of his starting XI.

Journalist Fabrizio Romano has shared a new message about Newcastle United and Atalanta defender Giorgio Scalvini after it…

[4100
20110,94,83414,79,100,16,15
0":"post-208293","1":"post","2":"type-post","3":"status-publish","4":"format-standard","5":"has-post-thumbnail","7":"category-football","8":"tag-fabrizio-romano","9":"tag-football","10":"tag-giorgio-scalvini","11":"tag-sports","12":"tag-transfer-news","13":"tag-uk","14":"tag-united-kingdom
["GET
