{"id":208589,"date":"2025-06-23T20:49:17","date_gmt":"2025-06-23T20:49:17","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/uk\/208589\/"},"modified":"2025-06-23T20:49:17","modified_gmt":"2025-06-23T20:49:17","slug":"eu-foreign-policy-chief-calls-for-dose-of-realism-in-china-relations","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/uk\/208589\/","title":{"rendered":"EU foreign policy chief calls for \u2018dose of realism\u2019 in China relations"},"content":{"rendered":"<p datatype=\"p\" data-qa=\"Component-Component\" class=\"e8zc9q40 css-1c6uqr6 ec74h0k1\">European Union foreign policy chief Kaja Kallas Monday called for what she called \u201ca dose of realism\u201d in its relations with China after EU foreign ministers discussed security aspects of relations with China.<\/p>\n<p datatype=\"p\" data-qa=\"Component-Component\" class=\"e8zc9q40 css-1c6uqr6 ec74h0k1\">The ministers met to set the agenda for a planned July 2 Brussels meeting between Kallas and Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi aimed at setting the tone for a July 24-25 EU-China leaders\u2019 summit in Beijing and Anhui.<\/p>\n<p datatype=\"p\" data-qa=\"Component-Component\" class=\"e8zc9q40 css-1c6uqr6 ec74h0k1\">\u201cIt is clear that China is one of the largest trading partners, and we have a few issues like climate change where we cooperate, but every relationship requires a dose of realism. China enables Russia\u2019s war,\u201d Kallas told reporters after the meeting.<\/p>\n<p datatype=\"p\" data-qa=\"Component-Component\" class=\"e8zc9q40 css-1c6uqr6 ec74h0k1\">\u201cWe have wording from Nato that China is the key enabler of Russia\u2019s war against Ukraine. It carries out cyberattacks. It interferes in our democracies. It uses coercive trade practices.
