While fans are used to Kate Middleton channeling Princess Diana<\/a> with her fashion, no one expected Queen Camilla<\/a>, the wife of Diana\u2019s ex-husband King Charles<\/a>, to also pay homage to the late Princess of Wales.<\/p>\n

Camilla channeled Diana at the Royal Ascot on June 21, where she wore a tunic dress with geometric embroidery, a floral wide-brimmed hat, and white pump heels. What was the most interesting, however, was that Camilla chose to accessorize her look with a Lady Dior handbag\u2014a quilted top handle purse that was named after Princess Diana<\/a>, who used to go by Lady Di.<\/p>\n

The Lady Dior was designed by Gianfranco Ferr\u00e9 in 1994. and gifted to Diana by France\u2019s then-first lady, Bernadette Chriac, in 1995. The bag was originally named the Chouchou or Princesse, however, after Diana was seen wearing it at several public engagements, Dior changed the handbag\u2019s name to the Lady Dior in 1996.<\/p>\n

Photos of Camilla wearing the Lady Dior come almost 40 years afteer news broke of Charles and Camilla\u2019s affair<\/a> in 1986. (Camilla,at the time, was married to Andrew Parker Bowles.) Diana addressed rumors of the affair in her infamous BBC One Panorama interview in 1995. \u201cThere were three of us in this marriage, so it was a bit crowded,\u201d she said. Charles and Diana separated in 1992 before finalizing their divorce in 1996, a year before Diana\u2019s death in a tragic car accident in Paris on August 31, 1997.<\/p>\n

According to The Telegraph<\/a>, an audiotape Diana made for her biographer, Andrew Morton (who wrote Diana: Her True Story<\/a>
\n), revealed that Diana confronted Camilla about the affair at a party. \u201cI know what\u2019s going on between you and Charles and I just want you to know that. She said to me: \u2018You\u2019ve got everything you ever wanted. You\u2019ve got all the men in the world fall in love with you and you\u2019ve got two beautiful children, what more do you want?\u2019 So I said, \u2018I want my husband.\u2019 And I said, \u2018I\u2019m sorry I\u2019m in the way\u2026and it must be hell for both of you. But I do know what\u2019s going on. Don\u2019t treat me like an idiot,’\u201d she said in the tape. <\/p>\n

Charles, for his part, spoke out about the rumors in a documentary in 1994. When asked about whether he had been \u201cfaithful and honorable\u201d to Diana in their marriage, Charles told filmmakers, \u201cYes, yes\u2026until it became irretrievably broken down, us both having tried.\u201d<\/p>\n
