{"id":208756,"date":"2025-06-23T22:17:11","date_gmt":"2025-06-23T22:17:11","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/uk\/208756\/"},"modified":"2025-06-23T22:17:11","modified_gmt":"2025-06-23T22:17:11","slug":"french-equality-minister-berge-affirms-frances-support-for-moroccan-sovereignty","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/uk\/208756\/","title":{"rendered":"French Equality Minister Berg\u00e9 Affirms France\u2019s Support for Moroccan Sovereignty"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Marrakech \u2013 French Minister for Gender Equality and Anti-Discrimination, Aurore Berg\u00e9, reaffirmed France\u2019s unwavering position on Morocco\u2019s sovereignty over its southern provinces in the Western Sahara during her visit to Rabat on Monday.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI want to firmly recall the unchanging position expressed by President Emmanuel Macron: the present and future of the Sahara fall fully within the framework of Moroccan sovereignty,\u201d Berg\u00e9 <a target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/www.mapexpress.ma\/actualite\/opinions-et-debats\/ministre-francaise-deleguee-chargee-legalite-reitere-position-intangible-france-considerant-present-lavenir-du-sahara-sinscrivent-pleinement-cadre-souveraine\/\" rel=\"noopener\">stated<\/a> to the press after a meeting with Morocco\u2019s Foreign Affairs Minister, Nasser Bourita.<\/p>\n<p>The French minister noted that her official visit to the North African country builds on the strengthened exceptional partnership desired by President Macron and King Mohammed VI following the state visit in October 2024. \u201cThis partnership has opened a new chapter between our two countries that we are writing together for the long term,\u201d she said.<\/p>\n<p>Berg\u00e9 pointed out that her visit takes place \u201cin a spirit of responsibility and seriousness regarding issues of common interest.\u201d She expressed her conviction that Paris and Rabat want to move forward together within a framework of equality and shared growth for decades to come.<\/p>\n<p><b>\u2018Our two countries have much to learn from each other\u2019<\/b><\/p>\n<p>She also acknowledged Morocco\u2019s progress under King Mohammed VI\u2019s leadership, noting the country has engaged in \u201cdecisive political, economic and social modernization, as evidenced by the major reform of the Family Code.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cOur two countries have much to learn from each other. Facing the major challenges of our time\u2014economic, social, demographic, climate, security\u2014I am convinced that our destinies are linked,\u201d she insisted.<\/p>\n<p>On women\u2019s rights promotion, Berg\u00e9 called Morocco \u201can essential partner\u201d in \u201cfeminist diplomacy,\u201d adding that both countries are working together to strengthen cooperation in combating all forms of violence against women.<\/p>\n<p>On the first day of her three-day <a target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/www.moroccoworldnews.com\/2025\/06\/220032\/french-equality-minister-aurore-berge-begins-three-day-morocco-visit\/\" rel=\"noopener\">work visit<\/a>, Berg\u00e9 also met with Morocco\u2019s Minister of Economy and Finance, Nadia Fettah.
