Salford Red Devils coach Paul Rowley confirmed one of his players failed a HIA against Hull FC, however, he\u2019s questioned the initial call.<\/strong><\/p>\n

The Red Devils<\/a> handed debuts to four loanees with Castleford Tigers\u2019 hooker\/loose forward Cain Robb being one of those, having joined Salford on an initial two-week loan.<\/p>\n

Sadly, Robb failed a head injury assessment<\/a> (HIA) on Sunday in the 38-6 loss against Hull FC<\/a> and that has ruled him out for the upcoming game against St Helens, effectively ending the loan in its current terms.<\/p>\n

Of course, that loan could be extended but as it stands, Robb won\u2019t play again for Salford \u2013 something that Paul Rowley will be regretting given how he praised the young forward.<\/p>\n

\u201cI thought he was great. I\u2019ve always been a big admirer of Cain,\u201d Rowley explained post-match<\/a>.<\/p>\n

\u201cHe\u2019s a disruptor in defence because he\u2019s got good line speed and he\u2019s keen to run because he\u2019s got good leg speed.<\/p>\n

\u201cI thought he was doing some great things for us early doors and it was unfortunate that he had to come off with a split head.\u201d<\/p>\n

Salford Red Devils lose loanee to HIA as Rowley fields HMRC questions<\/p>\n

Leaving the field for a HIA, it was confirmed that Robb had failed it but Rowley noted that he was \u201cunsure\u201d about the decision initially based on what he saw.<\/p>\n

\u201cI was unsure about that because I thought they (Hull FC) actually pushed him,\u201d he said, referencing the moment Robb came out of contact.<\/p>\n

He explained: \u201cThe doctor ruled him out and said it was category A (HIA) because he stumbled but if you actually look at it then I\u2019m convinced that they actually push him out of the ruck.<\/p>\n

\u201cI\u2019m not sure that he stumbled but ultimately, we\u2019ve got good people here who look after the lads so he will miss out (next week) but he\u2019s in good hands.\u201d<\/p>\n

Whilst there\u2019s uncertainty over whether Robb did or did not stumble, the doctor\u2019s verdict of a failed HIA stands which means he won\u2019t be available for Salford\u2019s next game, which comes on Sunday against St Helens.<\/p>\n

By then, we\u2019ll hopefully know far more about Salford\u2019s financial situation with the club set for a HMRC hearing on Thursday regarding unpaid debts.<\/p>\n

Rowley batted those questions away<\/a> when asked on Sky Sports, insisting that he didn\u2019t know, and he said similar in his post-match presser.<\/p>\n

The Salford coach responded: \u201cSomeone mentioned that but honestly, I don\u2019t really\u2026 What will happen will just happen, we\u2019ll just crack on and be consistent.<\/p>\n

\u201cIt doesn\u2019t enter our team room, we just stay consistent. Consistent for us is that we turn up, enjoy ourselves, practice hard and prepare well.\u201d<\/p>\n

Asked if players had mentioned it, he confirmed: \u201cNot in front of us. Our room is consistent.\u201d<\/p>\n
