{"id":209208,"date":"2025-06-24T02:18:17","date_gmt":"2025-06-24T02:18:17","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/uk\/209208\/"},"modified":"2025-06-24T02:18:17","modified_gmt":"2025-06-24T02:18:17","slug":"bears-escape-west-country-wildlife-park","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/uk\/209208\/","title":{"rendered":"Bears escape West Country wildlife park"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Visitors had to be escorted to a secure building<img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/uk\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/06\/0_1oRftPY4Q1OxqOHs9vw1Cubs600.jpg\" alt=\"Bear cubs Mish and Lucy\" loading=\"eager\"  \/>Bear cubs Mish and Lucy(Image: Wildwood Escot)<\/p>\n<p class=\"Paragraph_paragraph-text__PVKlh \">Two <a class=\"TextLink_text-link__dBSS0 TextLink_enabled__dJF3l\" href=\"https:\/\/www.bristolpost.co.uk\/all-about\/animals\" target=\"_self\" aria-label=\"\" tabindex=\"0\" rel=\"noopener\">bears<\/a> who escaped from their enclosure in a South West tourist attraction helped themselves to a week&#8217;s worth of honey before being returned to their home.<\/p>\n<p class=\"Paragraph_paragraph-text__PVKlh \">The incident, which took place at Escot Park, part of Wildwood Devon, near Ottery St Mary, saw a major police response.<\/p>\n<p class=\"Paragraph_paragraph-text__PVKlh \">A police helicopter was seen circling the Devon area and visitors were taken to safety.<\/p>\n<p class=\"Paragraph_paragraph-text__PVKlh \">The two bears, Mish and Lucy, escaped to the food store to help themselves to a selection of snacks.<\/p>\n<p class=\"Paragraph_paragraph-text__PVKlh \">The pair, who are both five years old, had a week&#8217;s worth of honey before being returned to their enclosure.<\/p>\n<p class=\"Paragraph_paragraph-text__PVKlh \">The incident lasted around an hour and the bears were closely monitored during the process.<\/p>\n<p class=\"Paragraph_paragraph-text__PVKlh \">A spokesperson for Wildwood Devon said: &#8220;Two young bears escaped from their enclosure at Wildwood Devon this afternoon, heading straight for their food store.<\/p>\n<p class=\"Paragraph_paragraph-text__PVKlh \">&#8220;Mish and Lucy (both five years old), who posed no threat to the public at any point, enjoyed a selection of snacks &#8211;
