Enforceable<\/a><\/b>, winner of the Grade 3 Lecomte Stakes in 2020 and seventh in the Kentucky Derby that year, broke through at the top level on Sunday, winning the Group 1 Cl\u00e1sico Jockey Club del Per\u00fa at Monterrico.<\/p>\nThe son of Tapit raced in the United States from ages 2 through 5. He was sold at the Fasig-Tipton July sale of horses of racing age, with plans to stand him at stud. However, soon after beginning his stallion career at Haras Rancho F\u00e1tima, he was found to be infertile and sold to owner Stud Jet Set according to a report from Joe Nevills of Paulick Report.<\/p>\n
Enforceable returned to racing in the fall of 2023. It took him four races in his new country to make it back to the winners’ circle, but got there Feb. 5, 2024 in a handicap at Monterrico. He would break through at the group level in his new country July 29 of that year, when he won the Cl\u00e1sico Independencia (G2).<\/p>\n
He returned to the races on April 6, winning the Cl\u00e1sico Aniversario De La Fundaci\u00f3n Del Jockey Club Del Per\u00fa at Monterrico. He was third behind Gluck in the Cl\u00e1sico La Copa (G2) on May 11, his final prep for the Cl\u00e1sico Jockey Club del Per\u00fa. Off that win Gluck was sent off the favorite in Sunday’s race.\u00a0<\/p>\n
Instead of setting the pace as he did last out, however, Enforceable was a little less keen. Under jockey Victor Salazar he tracked the pace set by the favorite.<\/p>\n
Into the stretch Enforceable continued to hound Gluck, and was carried out near the center of the track as Gluck bore out. Despite that, Enforceable continued to battle. Don’t Lose Time and Seraf\u00edn rallied inside, but in the final sixteenth it was Enforceable moving best of all.
