Meghan Markle<\/a> was harshly criticized by a Royal commentator who claimed that the Duchess has been “humiliated and lampooned” in Hollywood<\/a> for being the “least self-aware” public figure with her various claims about herself and the Royal Family.<\/p>\n

After a seven-year estrangement<\/a> from her father, battles with the royal family<\/a>, and her own admission that she wished she could rewrite some of her own narrative<\/a>, the Duchess of Sussex is facing new critcisms.<\/p>\n

The Duchess of Sussex’s relationship with the British press has been strained, which she suggested was one of the reasons she and Prince Harry<\/a> relocated to America after stepping down as working royals in 2020, but there has been a noticeable shift in how the US media treats them.<\/p>\n

This year, Harry and Meghan were the focus of a biting cover story by Vanity Fair, referred to as “American hustle” which included several allegations against the couple.<\/p>\n

Two years prior, they were labeled the “biggest losers in Hollywood” by the Hollywood Reporter, which followed up the next year with a demeaning report on why the industry “keeps quitting” on them.<\/p>\n

Additionally, Harry and Meghan were parodied in South Park when the show dedicated an entire episode to them in February 2023.<\/p>\n

The episode, titled “The Worldwide Privacy Tour,” was the second installment of the show’s 26th season.<\/p>\n

The Express UK reports that it featured the fictional Prince of Canada and his wife (seemingly mocking Harry and Meghan) as they visited the small town of Colorado.<\/p>\n

South Park’s episode depicted the couple’s quest for a normal, understated life, which they pursued during a global tour while loudly insisting on their privacy.<\/p>\n

A Royal expert has recently criticized the Duchess of Sussex following her latest podcast interview, noting a shift in the US’s perception of Meghan.<\/p>\n

Meghan joined SKIMS founding partner Emma Grede on her podcast and discussed “lies” being spread about her, suggesting she would encourage people to “tell the truth” if she had the chance to rewrite her story, which many see as an indirect criticism of the Royal Family.<\/p>\n

US journalist Lee Cohen slammed the duchess as the “most tone deaf, least self-aware figure in the public eye,” stating that she has been “rightly humiliated” in Hollywood for this reason.<\/p>\n

He continued, “This is the woman who, in her 2021 Oprah interview, spun tales that crumbled under scrutiny. Even her husband backed away from her charges of racism against his family.”<\/p>\n

The Royal commentator mentioned that Hollywood’s mockery of the Sussexes comes as no surprise given their series of blunders.<\/p>\n

He remarked, “No wonder Hollywood’s had a field day at the Sussexes’ expense.<\/p>\n

“South Park roasted them in 2023, and comics like Chris Rock have taken gleeful jabs.<\/p>\n

“Even a Spotify exec, Bill Simmons, branded them ‘grifters’ after their podcast deal fizzled out post-Archetypes.”<\/p>\n

In March 2023, comedian Chris Rock took a jab at Meghan’s allegations of racism within the Royal Family, quipping that her situation was just “some in-law s—” and suggesting she had won the “light-skinned lottery”.<\/p>\n

On another front, after Spotify terminated their contract with Harry and Meghan following the production of only 12 podcast episodes, Bill Simmons, a prominent Spotify podcast executive, didn’t mince words when he labeled the couple as “f—–g grifters”, implying they were con artists.<\/p>\n

He expressed his frustration by saying, “The f—–g grifters. That’s the podcast we should have launched with them.”<\/p>\n

Simmons also teased a personal anecdote, stating, “I’ve got to get drunk one night and tell the story of the Zoom I had with Harry to try and help him with a podcast idea. It’s one of my best stories.”<\/p>\n
