Manchester United have submitted a second offer in excess of \u00a360million for Brentford forward Bryan Mbeumo.<\/p>\n
United had an opening offer totalling \u00a355m rejected earlier this month but have remained confident of concluding a deal for the 26-year-old.<\/p>\n
Mbeumo wants to join United, despite firm interest from Tottenham Hotspur since they appointed his former Brentford coach Thomas Frank as Ange Postecoglou’s replacement.<\/p>\n
United goalkeeper Andre Onana has lobbied his international teammate to move to Manchester and one of Mbeumo’s close relatives is also a United fan, which is believed to have further emboldened United.<\/p>\n
Mbeumo scored 20 goals in 38 Premier League<\/a> appearances last season and is out of contract next year, though Brentford have the option of a one-year extension.<\/p>\n United have identified Mbeumo as an ideal option to enhance their right-hand side. The club previously held discussions with the left-footed Sporting winger Geovany Quenda before he chose to join Chelsea<\/a>.<\/p>\n Having not broken the \u00a360m barrier for any of their five summer signings last year, United have already bought Matheus Cunha for \u00a362.5m from Wolves and are prepared to pay a similar fee for Mbeumo.<\/p>\n Cunha scored 15 league goals last term and his release clause made it inevitable that Brentford would hold out for a similar fee.<\/p>\n United want to sign another forward, with Mbeumo regarded as more of a multi-functional option.
