A man has been charged with a number of driving offences after a PSNI officer was dragged by a car during a traffic stop in Co Tyrone.<\/p>\n

A policeman was injured in the incident which happened in Omagh on Sunday during a traffic stop.<\/p>\n

He sustained multiple fractures to his foot along with cuts and bruises during what has been described as \u201ca very dangerous situation\u201d on Beltany Road shortly after 11pm. <\/p>\n

A 24-year-old suspect was arrested and has since been charged with driving with excess alcohol in his breath and failing to stop for police<\/a>.<\/p>\n

He has also been charged with assault on police and causing grievous bodily injury by dangerous driving.<\/p>\n

The man is due to appear before Omagh Magistrates\u2019 Court on Tuesday, July 8.<\/p>\n

\u201cAs is usual procedure, all charges will be reviewed by the Public Prosecution Service,\u201d a PSNI spokesperson said. <\/p>\n
