{"id":210203,"date":"2025-06-24T11:08:11","date_gmt":"2025-06-24T11:08:11","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/uk\/210203\/"},"modified":"2025-06-24T11:08:11","modified_gmt":"2025-06-24T11:08:11","slug":"adp-implementation-in-july-may-hits-record-low-at-49","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/uk\/210203\/","title":{"rendered":"ADP implementation in July-May hits record low at 49%"},"content":{"rendered":"<p class=\"rtejustify\"><strong>Bangladesh&#8217;s Annual Development Programme (ADP) implementation rate has plummeted to 49% in the first 11 months (July\u2013May) of the current fiscal year &#8211; the lowest on record.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p class=\"rtejustify\">The government managed to spend only Tk1.11 lakh crore of the revised ADP allocation from July 2024 to May 2025, according to the Implementation Monitoring and Evaluation Division (IMED). \u00a0<\/p>\n<p class=\"rtejustify\">This is a substantial decrease from Tk1.46 lakh crore spent during the same period in the previous fiscal year, according to available monthly IMED data.<\/p>\n<p>        <a style=\"font-weight: bold; color: #2b4949; border-bottom: 1px solid #ccc; font-size: 18px;\" href=\"https:\/\/news.google.com\/publications\/CAAqBwgKMIivlQsw2ZKrAw?ceid=US:en&amp;oc=3\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><br \/>\n          <img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/www.tbsnews.net\/sites\/all\/themes\/sloth\/images\/google_news.svg\" alt=\"The Business Standard Google News\" style=\"display: inline-block; margin-right: 15px; margin-bottom: 10px; height: 30px;\"\/><br \/>\n            Keep updated, follow The Business Standard&#8217;s Google news channel<br \/>\n          <\/a><\/p>\n<p class=\"rtejustify\">In the corresponding 11-month period of the last fiscal year, the ADP implementation rate stood at 57.54%, and in the 2022-23 fiscal year, it was 61.73%.<\/p>\n<p class=\"rtejustify\">Based on available records dating back to FY2011\u201312 on the IMED website, this marks the lowest ADP implementation rate in over a decade.<\/p>\n<p class=\"rtejustify\">Dr Mustafa K Mujeri, executive director of the Institute for Inclusive Finance and Development (InM), attributed the low ADP implementation rate to the &#8220;abnormal&#8221; political situation and lingering instability across various sectors, including administration.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p class=\"rtejustify\">He explained that this environment led to reduced spending on development projects.<\/p>\n<p class=\"rtejustify\">He also highlighted a recurring issue &#8211; the tendency to hastily spend ADP funds at the fiscal year&#8217;s end.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p class=\"rtejustify\">&#8220;Such rushed expenditure often results in government money wastage and corruption.
