{"id":210445,"date":"2025-06-24T13:15:11","date_gmt":"2025-06-24T13:15:11","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/uk\/210445\/"},"modified":"2025-06-24T13:15:11","modified_gmt":"2025-06-24T13:15:11","slug":"foiled-russian-plot-to-kill-zelenskyy-in-poland","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/uk\/210445\/","title":{"rendered":"Foiled Russian plot to kill Zelenskyy in Poland"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>\n<strong>WARSAW \u2013 An assassination attempt on Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy was thwarted at the Rzesz\u00f3w airport, according to Vasyl Maliuk, head of Ukraine&#8217;s Security Service.<\/strong>\n<\/p>\n<p>\nThe attempted attack was to take place in April 2024, Kyiv has reported.\n<\/p>\n<p>\nPolish interior ministry spokesperson Jacek Dobrzy\u0144ski stated that on 17 April, 2024, officers of the Internal Security Agency detained a Polish citizen, Pawe\u0142 K., in the Lublin Voivodeship, Eastern Poland.\n<\/p>\n<p>\nThe man was suspected of having declared his willingness to cooperate with Russian intelligence agency, GRU. He was detained \u201cin connection with an investigation into declaring readiness to act on behalf of a foreign intelligence service against the Republic of Poland,\u201d Dobrzy\u0144ski said in a statement. \u201cAlong with the suspect\u2019s detention, officers searched his place of residence, where they secured evidence as well as illegally possessed ammunition.\u201d\n<\/p>\n<p>\nAccording to Dobrzy\u0144ski, the investigation established that Pawe\u0142 K. had declared his willingness to act on behalf of GRU.\n<\/p>\n<p>\n\u201cHis tasks were to include, among other things, gathering information about the Rzesz\u00f3w-Jasionka Airport.
