Ian Healy<\/a> has thrown an extraordinary jab at West Indies fast bowler Shamar Joseph after the exciting quick told 19-year-old Australian batter Sam Konstas<\/a>: “Just look out, that’s all.”<\/p>\n

“OK Shamar, well you’ve delivered crap all year,” Healy said on SEN radio on Tuesday.<\/p>\n

“So he better improve, that’s what I’m saying.<\/p>\n

“He’s got real trouble.<\/p>\n

“You’re not Curtly Ambrose, champ.”<\/p>\n

Joseph told Konstas to “look out” via an interview with News Corp in Bridgetown, the location of the first Test starting on Wednesday.<\/p>\n

The 25-year-old also described Konstas as a “stylish player” in his chat with News Corp.<\/p>\n

And in an interview with The Sydney Morning Herald<\/a> in the capital of Barbados, he said the “confidence” with which the teenager batted on his Test debut was “encouraging”.<\/p>\n

Asked by the SMH if he thought Konstas would try to ramp him, he replied with a grin: “Well, that’s up to him. I will do my part.”<\/p>\n

Konstas was axed<\/a> for the two-Test series in Sri Lanka, and left out of the World Test Championship final<\/a> against South Africa at Lord’s, but will return alongside Josh Inglis in the first match in the Caribbean.<\/p>\n

Fresh in the memories of cricket lovers are the flare and audacity with which Konstas batted against India, including pace ace Jasprit Bumrah, in a knock of 60 from 65 balls on the morning of Boxing Day<\/a>.<\/p>\n

Joseph had his coming of age in Brisbane just under a year earlier, when he took 7-68 to lead the West Indies<\/a> to their first Test victory in Australia in 27 years.<\/p>\n

That moment in Brisbane made him an instant hero back at home in the Caribbean.<\/p>\n

Since then, he’s played six Tests for a return of 16 wickets at 34.43, including one five-for \u2014 neither bad nor impressive statistics.<\/p>\n

The Guyana-born star hasn’t played a Test since November but has struggled for impact in other arenas this year, only managing eight wickets from the four matches he’s played in first-class and one-day international cricket.<\/p>\n

“He’s picked on the 19-year-old again,” Healy said.<\/p>\n

“Shamar’s had a terrible year since he went through us at the Gabba and beat us at the Gabba early last year.”<\/p>\n

The legendary wicketkeeper recalled Joseph’s struggle with a toe injury in Brisbane.<\/p>\n

There was doubt as to whether he’d be able to bowl on the fourth day after a Mitchell Starc yorker had thudded into his right boot, but scans cleared him of a fracture and he was soon steaming in again.<\/p>\n

His match-winning heroics followed.<\/p>\n

“He got out of his injury bed,” Healy said.<\/p>\n

“He had this toe that had blown up and he didn’t think he could play, and someone said, ‘Well come down and try it’, and all of a sudden he worked out, ‘Oh, you can play with pain’, and he went through us.”<\/p>\n
