Critics have taken a hatchet to a new Disney<\/a> Plus sci-fi series, branding it soulless and boring, but not everyone is on the same page.\u00a0<\/p>\n

If you\u2019re a fan of the MCU<\/a> and were scrolling through social media<\/a> this morning, it\u2019s very likely you\u2019ve seen the first reactions to Ironheart.<\/p>\n

Set after the events of Wakanda Forever, the show follows genius gadgeteer Riri Williams (Dominique Thorne) as she teams up with the mysterious Parker Robbins (Anthony Ramos) in the hope of scraping together enough cash to build a new suit of Iron Man-style armour.\u00a0<\/p>\n

However, Parker isn\u2019t what he seems, and before long, Riri finds herself torn between the mystical and the mechanical.\u00a0<\/p>\n

Critics have watched all six episodes of the new Marvel TV show, and while they can\u2019t publish full reviews yet, they have been allowed to share their thoughts on social media.\u00a0<\/p>\n

And sadly, it seems a portion of those who write about the cape and cowl crowd for a living aren\u2019t overly impressed with what the series offers.\u00a0<\/p>\n

@HopeSloop admitted on X that \u2018Ironheart is really fun at times but feels (in my humble opinion) like it\u2019s desperately in need of a soul.\u2019\u00a0\u00a0<\/p>\n

\u2018The magic vs. machine theme is conceptually intriguing, but feels like it\u2019s lacking here,\u2019 she continued. \u2018I\u2019m ambivalent because I didn\u2019t hate any part, but I didn\u2019t love anything either.\u2019<\/p>\n

@TheHollywoodhandle wrote: \u2018#Ironheart have some fun moments, but it\u2019s never interesting enough nor does it manage to stick the landing.\u2019<\/p>\n

\u2018Bland characters and a super uninteresting plot that doesn\u2019t know where it wants to go. A disappointment overall.\u2019<\/p>\n

@RenGeekness was similarly negative, telling his followers that despitehaving some \u2018ideas and themes\u2019, it \u2018can\u2019t overcome a scattershot narrative.\u2019\u00a0<\/p>\n

@Mark Cassidy was also disappointed by the series, posting on X that \u2018it\u2019s not good\u2019.\u00a0<\/p>\n

\u2018It becomes obvious very quickly why Marvel decided to dump this on D+ 3 eps at a time,\u2019 he continued. \u2018Can\u2019t fault the cast, but none of them are given much to work with.\u2019<\/p>\n

@ZachPope was on the fence with the series, writing that he really wanted to love Ironheart but came away \u2018not feeling much\u2019.\u00a0<\/p>\n

\u2018VFX, Action, & some new additions of magic mythology to the world of the MCU stand out,\u2019 he added. \u2019But the character arcs feel at a standstill by the end & don\u2019t go anywhere.\u2019<\/p>\n

Metro\u2019s own Zac Haniff sat down with Ironheart executive producer Ryan Coogler to get the latest on the MCU<\/strong>\u2026<\/p>\n

Everyone knows that the MCU is building to the Secret Wars, but Marvel Studios already has an eye on the future and the end of the Multiverse Saga.<\/p>\n

And do you know what\u2019s coming next? While it\u2019s Marvel\u2019s merry mutants, the X-Men of course! <\/p>\n

More excitingly, plans are already in the works for the film with Ryan telling Metro <\/strong>that Jake Schreier (who just made Thunderbolts) will direct the X-Men reboot.<\/p>\n

Let\u2019s hope Ryan had permission from Marvel head honcho Kevin Feige to tell us that\u2026 <\/p>\n

@DavidOpie felt similarly, claiming the show was a \u2018mixed bag\u2019. That said, he did admit that \u2018the second half is much better than the first, tho (sic), especially when magic\u2019s thrown into the mix.\u2019<\/p>\n

Despite some critics feeling let down, though the wider fandom seems to have enjoyed the show.\u00a0<\/p>\n

@adamhlavac told his followers he was \u2018surprised Marvel didn\u2019t market it more\u2019 and that \u2018it starts pretty strong and gets better and better as the series progresses\u2019.<\/p>\n

The cosplayer @seejaylewis was also enthusiastic, writing that it was a \u2018gritty, funny, and powerful show\u2019 that \u2018brings something fresh and exciting to the MCU.\u2019<\/p>\n

@POCculture really enjoyed Riri\u2019s adventures, posting, \u2018Ironheart is a sincere look at what the life of a teen genius superhero would be like. It\u2019s fun & exciting but also hard & heavy.\u2019<\/p>\n

@FenixDKevin meanwhile wrote that Ironheart\u2019s \u2018grounded\/street level feel\u2019 was \u2018a welcome change of pace from the usual world ending threats\u2019.<\/p>\n

Ironheart is available to watch on Disney Plus from July 25.<\/strong><\/p>\n
