{"id":210832,"date":"2025-06-24T16:30:14","date_gmt":"2025-06-24T16:30:14","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/uk\/210832\/"},"modified":"2025-06-24T16:30:14","modified_gmt":"2025-06-24T16:30:14","slug":"tuc-cymru-industrial-strategy-marks-a-pivotal-moment-for-wales-wiredgov-newswire-news-from-other-organisations","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/uk\/210832\/","title":{"rendered":"TUC Cymru &#8211; Industrial Strategy marks a pivotal moment for Wales | WiredGov Newswire (news from other organisations)"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><strong>TUC Cymru has today welcomed the UK Government\u2019s new 10-year Industrial Strategy, which includes \u00a34\u202fbillion for advanced manufacturing, a semiconductor centre in Swansea, a Welsh Defence Growth Cluster, and support worth \u00a330\u202fmillion for innovation in Wales.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Shavanah\u202fTaj, General Secretary, TUC Cymru, said:<\/p>\n<blockquote>\n<p>\u201cAfter decades of Tory short-termism and underinvestment, this strategy marks an important moment &#8211; \u00a0we have finally got a plan to rebuild industry in Wales.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;Major reforms like cutting levies for energy-intensive industries and accelerating grid connections will cut bills for Welsh steel, ceramics, chemicals and glass producers \u2014 that&#8217;s significant progress towards achieving international competitiveness and safeguarding local jobs.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;Then there is the quarter of a billion pound boost for automotive and Aerospace industry in Wales with Newport\u2019s Vishay facility expanding \u2014 creating over hundreds of good quality jobs in the process.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cAnd the significant investment in the semi-conductor, defence and innovation sectors in Wales is also welcome, and further proof that having two Labour governments either side of the M4 is good for the Welsh economy, Welsh businesses and working people in Wales.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>\u201cCrucially, this strategy commits to partnering with workers on workforce planning, including in clean energy \u2014 a significant step forward for Wales\u2019s skilled trades workforce and a just transition.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThis is our chance to build well-paid, unionised jobs across Wales \u2014 in aerospace, semiconductors, clean energy and beyond.
