{"id":210913,"date":"2025-06-24T17:11:29","date_gmt":"2025-06-24T17:11:29","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/uk\/210913\/"},"modified":"2025-06-24T17:11:29","modified_gmt":"2025-06-24T17:11:29","slug":"invest-ni-infrastructure-capacity-constraints-affecting-economic-growth","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/uk\/210913\/","title":{"rendered":"Invest NI: Infrastructure capacity constraints affecting economic growth"},"content":{"rendered":"<p class=\"ssrcss-1q0x1qg-Paragraph e1jhz7w10\">Invest NI is an arms length body of the Department for the Economy (DfE).<\/p>\n<p class=\"ssrcss-1q0x1qg-Paragraph e1jhz7w10\">The review found &#8220;relationships at senior levels within Invest NI are damaged and are harming the performance of the organisation&#8221;.<\/p>\n<p class=\"ssrcss-1q0x1qg-Paragraph e1jhz7w10\">It concluded that the organisation needed urgent improvements in leadership, operations and public accountability.<\/p>\n<p class=\"ssrcss-1q0x1qg-Paragraph e1jhz7w10\">In response, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.bbc.co.uk\/news\/uk-northern-ireland-67005286\" class=\"ssrcss-f6h2dj-InlineLink e1kn3p7n0\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Invest NI published an action plan<\/a>, and it has now completed the first year of its three-year plan, including internal organisational and cultural change.<\/p>\n<p class=\"ssrcss-1q0x1qg-Paragraph e1jhz7w10\">Mr Donoghue, who has been in the role for 18 months, said he did not want the organisation to be defined by the review.<\/p>\n<p class=\"ssrcss-1q0x1qg-Paragraph e1jhz7w10\">Invest NI supported \u00a3631m of investment into the Northern Ireland economy this year &#8211; that is 22% more than the previous year.<\/p>\n<p class=\"ssrcss-1q0x1qg-Paragraph e1jhz7w10\">In response to criticism that the organisation has been too Belfast-centric, it almost hit its 60% target for investments outside of the Belfast Metropolitan Area, with this making up 59% of investments.<\/p>\n<p class=\"ssrcss-1q0x1qg-Paragraph e1jhz7w10\">Two thirds of assistance went to locally owned firms.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"Invest NI is an arms length body of the Department for the Economy (DfE).
