New Notts County boss Martin Paterson<\/p>\n

Former Northern Ireland international Martin Paterson is the new manager of Notts County.<\/p>\n

The ex-Burton Albion boss and Derby County assistant manager will replaced sacked Stuart Maynard at the League Two club.<\/p>\n

Notts County director of football Roberto Gagliardi said: \u201cIn our conversations with him it’s been clear that he shares our vision of playing dynamic, progressive football and, as much as the club’s DNA will remain the same in terms of our desire to dominate the ball, we believe he may bring more intensity and directness to our play.<\/p>\n

“Martin wants his teams to be extremely hard-working, well-organised and difficult to play against \u2013 characteristics which were key to his success at Burton having become their manager in very challenging circumstances.<\/p>\n

“We believe we can provide the environment for Martin to demonstrate his true capabilities as a head coach.”<\/p>\n

The striker played for Stoke City, Burnley, Huddersfield Town, Blackpool, Port Vale and Tampa Bay Rowdies. He won 22 caps for Northern Ireland between 2007 and 2014, scoring three goals. He is best remembered by the Green and White Army for his winner against Russia at Windsor Park in 2013.<\/p>\n
