\n\tScreenwriter Rob Yescombe has been busy penning movies like Outside the Wire for Netflix and Jackpot! for Amazon Prime, but he\u2019s also found the time to regain the rights to his virtual reality murder mystery game The Invisible Hours.<\/p>\n
\n\tTerms of the deal were not disclosed, but Yescombe, who started out in video game design before a pivot to Hollywood, is looking for partners for a potential film or TV adaptation of the narrative adventure game developed by now defunct Spanish video game developer Tequila Works.<\/p>\n
\n\t\u201cI adored making The Invisible Hours. Truly, the best creative experience of my life. Fans still reach out to me, even after all this time \u2014 they love it as much as I do. The VR hardware market has grown massively since 2017 \u2014 multiple millions of units \u2014 making The Invisible Hours a prime candidate to remaster for a new generation,\u201d Yescombe said in a statement.<\/p>\n
\n\tYescombe was the original co-creator, writer and narrative director of The Invisible Hours, which launched at the Cannes Film Festival in 2017. The VR game is an immersive murder mystery, where players explore an intricate web of interwoven stories set in a sprawling mansion.<\/p>\n
\n\tThe narrative kicks off with seven people answering a curious invitation from enigmatic inventor, Nikola Tesla, to make amends for their darkest wrongdoings. But when the last guest to arrive at the isolated mansion laboratory is murdered, disgraced Swedish detective Gustaf Gustav vows to find the killer amongst the remaining guests: a blind butler, a convicted murderer, the world\u2019s most famous actress, Tesla\u2019s former assistant, the son of a wealthy railroad magnate and rival inventor Thomas Edison.<\/p>\n
\n\tYescombe as a screenwriter penned Paul Feig\u2019s action comedy Jackpot!, which starred John Cena, Awkwafina and Simu Li, and did the screenplay for Mikael Hafstrom\u2019s Netflix action film Outside the Wire, which stars Anthony Mackie and Damson Idris.<\/p>\n
