{"id":211103,"date":"2025-06-24T18:51:23","date_gmt":"2025-06-24T18:51:23","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/uk\/211103\/"},"modified":"2025-06-24T18:51:23","modified_gmt":"2025-06-24T18:51:23","slug":"morrisons-thanks-emergency-crews-as-arson-attack-guts-derelict-bristol-pub","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/uk\/211103\/","title":{"rendered":"Morrisons thanks emergency crews as arson attack guts derelict Bristol pub"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Flames tore through the long-empty Farriers Arms<img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/uk\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/06\/1_PHOTO-2025-06-20-22-00-12.jpg\" alt=\"Firefighters search inside the Farriers Arms after the blaze\" loading=\"eager\"  \/>Firefighters search inside the Farriers Arms after the blaze(Image: Bristol Live)<\/p>\n<p class=\"Paragraph_paragraph-text__PVKlh \">A fire that ripped through a long-abandoned pub in Fishponds is being treated as arson, with Morrisons confirming it is assisting police with their investigation.<\/p>\n<p class=\"Paragraph_paragraph-text__PVKlh \">Emergency services were called to the scene at the derelict Farriers Arms on Fishponds Road at 7.30pm on Friday, June 20, after reports of a large blaze.<\/p>\n<p class=\"Paragraph_paragraph-text__PVKlh \">Crews from Temple, <a class=\"TextLink_text-link__dBSS0 TextLink_enabled__dJF3l\" href=\"https:\/\/www.bristolpost.co.uk\/all-about\/kingswood\" target=\"\" aria-label=\"\" tabindex=\"0\" rel=\"noopener\">Kingswood<\/a>, <a class=\"TextLink_text-link__dBSS0 TextLink_enabled__dJF3l\" href=\"https:\/\/www.bristolpost.co.uk\/all-about\/bath-and-north-east-somerset\" target=\"\" aria-label=\"\" tabindex=\"0\" rel=\"noopener\">Bath<\/a>, <a class=\"TextLink_text-link__dBSS0 TextLink_enabled__dJF3l\" href=\"https:\/\/www.bristolpost.co.uk\/all-about\/bedminster\" target=\"\" aria-label=\"\" tabindex=\"0\" rel=\"noopener\">Bedminster<\/a>, <a class=\"TextLink_text-link__dBSS0 TextLink_enabled__dJF3l\" href=\"https:\/\/www.bristolpost.co.uk\/all-about\/southmead\" target=\"\" aria-label=\"\" tabindex=\"0\" rel=\"noopener\">Southmead<\/a> and Hicks Gate rushed to the scene to find the disused building engulfed in flames.<\/p>\n<p class=\"Paragraph_paragraph-text__PVKlh \">Firefighters used water jets, hose reels and a turntable ladder to tackle the blaze. Four wore breathing apparatus to fight the fire from outside the property.<\/p>\n<p class=\"Paragraph_paragraph-text__PVKlh \">Gas and electricity supplies were isolated for safety, and the incident was scaled back later that evening.<\/p>\n<p class=\"Paragraph_paragraph-text__PVKlh \">Fishponds Road remained closed until around 10pm while emergency crews brought the fire under control.<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/uk\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/06\/2_PHOTO-2025-06-20-21-55-28-1.jpg\" alt=\"The Farriers Arms pub has suffered serious damage in the fire\" loading=\"lazy\"  \/>The Farriers Arms pub has suffered serious damage in the fire(Image: Bristol Live)<\/p>\n<p class=\"Paragraph_paragraph-text__PVKlh \">Crews returned to the site shortly after 5am the following morning to reinspect the building and cool down any hotspots using thermal imaging cameras.<\/p>\n<p class=\"Paragraph_paragraph-text__PVKlh \"><a class=\"TextLink_text-link__dBSS0 TextLink_enabled__dJF3l\" href=\"https:\/\/www.bristolpost.co.uk\/all-about\/avon-fire-and-rescue\" target=\"\" aria-label=\"\" tabindex=\"0\" rel=\"noopener\">Avon Fire and Rescue<\/a> Service confirmed the fire was believed to have been started deliberately. A spokesperson said: \u201cUpon arrival, crews found the building well alight. Crews used water jets, and hose reels alongside the turn table ladder to project water onto the fire. Four firefighters wore breathing apparatus to control the fire from the exterior of the property.<\/p>\n<p class=\"Paragraph_paragraph-text__PVKlh \">\u201cThe gas and electricity were isolated to make sure the property was safe. Firefighters were then able to scale back the incident and a reinspection of the property was booked due to the nature of the incident.\u201d<\/p>\n<p class=\"Paragraph_paragraph-text__PVKlh \">They added that firefighters returned the next morning and \u201cused thermal imaging cameras to check for hotspots and dampen down any possible hazards at the scene using the turntable ladder\u201d.<\/p>\n<p class=\"Paragraph_paragraph-text__PVKlh \">The pub has been derelict for around 15 years, despite local efforts to revive it.
