North East Fife MP Wendy Chamberlain has described the current post-Brexit restrictions as \u201cincreasingly disruptive\u201d.<\/p>\n<p>Speaking to The Connexion, Chamberlain said: \u201cThe 90-day limit on stays in Europe is increasingly disruptive for families and businesses across the UK. Whether it\u2019s grandparents who can\u2019t spend extended time with loved ones abroad, or small businesses facing unnecessary travel restrictions, people are being let down by a Brexit deal that simply doesn\u2019t work.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>    Most Read on Euro Weekly News<\/p>\n<p>Since Brexit, UK citizens face the same restrictions as other \u2018third-country\u2019 visitors to the EU: a maximum stay of 90 days within any 180-day period, unless they apply for a visa. Meanwhile, EU citizens can visit the UK for up to six months visa-free.<\/p>\n<p>Calls grow for fairer EU travel rights for Britons with family, property or business ties<\/p>\n<p>The difference in rules has sparked frustration among Britons with property, family or business links in Europe. Online groups in France, Spain, Portugal, and Italy have been campaigning for a more flexible arrangement.<\/p>\n<p>The Liberal Democrats are calling on Prime Minister Keir Starmer\u2019s government to open discussions with Brussels on a possible new agreement. Whether Labour is prepared to renegotiate aspects of the <a class=\"editor-rtfLink\" href=\"https:\/\/euroweeklynews.com\/2025\/06\/02\/brexit-fallout-defence-spending-and-business-confidence-where-the-uk-economy-stands-in-2025\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Brexit deal remains unclear<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>For many, the issue goes beyond holidays. Some are struggling to maintain family ties, care for relatives abroad, or manage business operations across borders.<\/p>\n<p>For now, British travellers heading to Europe must continue to monitor their time carefully.
