and researchers found about 40% of Britons support spending more money on weapons and troops.<\/p>\n<p>A fifth (20%) said they would like to see a reduction.<\/p>\n<p>It comes as the government revealed it was <strong><a href=\"https:\/\/news.sky.com\/story\/uk-to-buy-f-35-stealth-jets-that-can-carry-us-nuclear-warheads-as-global-insecurity-grows-13388199\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">buying at least 12 stealth jets that can carry nuclear weapons<\/a><\/strong>, and as NATO countries, including the UK, <strong><a href=\"https:\/\/news.sky.com\/story\/uk-and-nato-allies-agree-to-increase-defence-spend-to-5-by-2035-13387759\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">promise to increase defence spending<\/a><\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p>The National Security Strategy also said the UK <strong><a href=\"https:\/\/news.sky.com\/story\/uk-must-actively-prepare-for-potential-of-war-in-the-homeland-new-government-review-warns-13387980\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">must prepare for the potential of a &#8220;wartime scenario&#8221;
