Neither approach proved entirely congenial, but Paul described those years as ones of \u2018productive disagreement\u2019. Renowned for his innovative painterly practice, using beeswax, resins, pigments, bitumen, ash and other organic materials, Paul Martin has exhibited widely both at home and abroad (including four solo exhibitions at Bourne Fine Art \u2013 now The Fine Art Society), and has works in the collections of The Royal Academy, The British Museum and the BBC. Over the course of his career he garnered many awards including\u00a0The British Institution Prize\u00a0for Printmaking\u00a0and\u00a0The Royal Academy Awards for Painting and Printmaking.<\/p>\n \u2018Where Echoes Rest\u2019 is at Dalkeith Palace\u00a0from 27 to 29 June.<\/p>\n The artist and art historian, Dr Andrew Paterson, will be giving a free talk and a guided tour of the exhibition\u00a0on Saturday 28th June at 10.30am,\u00a02pm and again\u00a0at 3.30pm\u00a0in which he will offer a personal response to the works themselves, and also look at the artistic, literary and philosophical influences behind them. Dr Paterson, for many years a colleague and friend of Paul Martin, has a wealth of experience in leading gallery tours at the National Galleries of Scotland for both students and the general public, and his talk, \u2018The Restoration of Abundance\u2019, promises to be both informative and entertaining. He is the author of\u00a0Late Antique Portraits and Early Christian Icons: The Power of the Painted Gaze.<\/p>\n More details here.<\/a><\/p>\n The Leith Central Community Council (LCCC) has spoken out about the proliferation of Purpose Built Student Accommodation (PBSA) which they say exploits gaps in national and local planning rules \u2013 building dense blocks on small plots\u201d.
