Statistics released from the <a class=\"TextLink_text-link__dBSS0 TextLink_enabled__dJF3l\" href=\"https:\/\/www.liverpoolecho.co.uk\/all-about\/dwp\" target=\"_self\" aria-label=\"\" tabindex=\"0\" rel=\"noopener\">Department for Work and Pensions (DWP)<\/a> show 74,804 people are claiming Attendance Allowance for back pain.<\/p>\n<p class=\"Paragraph_paragraph-text__PVKlh \">Attendance Allowance is awarded to people who are over the state pension age and need extra help or supervision due to a disability or illness. You are also eligible is everyday tasks take you a long time or if they cause you pain or discomfort.<\/p>\n<p class=\"Paragraph_paragraph-text__PVKlh \">You may also be eligible if you have a physical disability, mental disability, or both, and your condition means you have required help for at least six months.<\/p>\n<p class=\"Paragraph_paragraph-text__PVKlh \">Attendance Allowance is worth \u00a373.90 a week if you need help or supervision throughout the day or at night, or \u00a3110.40 a week if you need help or supervision throughout both the day and night, or nearing the end of your life, <a class=\"TextLink_text-link__dBSS0 TextLink_enabled__dJF3l\" href=\"https:\/\/www.mirror.co.uk\/money\/dwp-giving-people-state-pension-35443392\" target=\"_self\" aria-label=\"\" tabindex=\"0\" rel=\"noopener\">the Mirror reports<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p class=\"Paragraph_paragraph-text__PVKlh \">It is paid every four weeks, which means you could receive either \u00a3295.60 or \u00a3441.60 every pay period. You do not have to have someone caring for you in order to be eligible for Attendance Allowance.<\/p>\n<p class=\"Paragraph_paragraph-text__PVKlh \">For example, you could choose to spend the money on taxis or a cleaner, to keep you independent.<\/p>\n<p class=\"Paragraph_paragraph-text__PVKlh \">However, you do need to let the DWP know if your circumstances have changed, as it could affect how much Attendance Allowance you get.<\/p>\n<p class=\"Paragraph_paragraph-text__PVKlh \">Attendance Allowance is not a means-tested benefit there is no limit on how much money you can have in savings. It is also tax-free and you will be exempt from the benefit cap.<\/p>\n<p class=\"Paragraph_paragraph-text__PVKlh \">In fact, other benefits you already get might increase if you get Attendance Allowance.
