Brad Pitt relished an \u201cextraordinary\u201d experience of driving a Formula One car as F1: The Movie hit cinemas in the UK.<\/p>\n
The Hollywood star, who plays F1 driver Sonny Hayes in the blockbuster film, was recently given the chance to drive McLaren\u2019s 2023 car around Austin\u2019s Circuit of the Americas.<\/p>\n
Pitt, 61, had plenty of driving experience \u2013 including behind the wheel of modified F2 cars \u2013 while filming the movie over the last two years, but was blown away by his first taste of an F1 car.<\/p>\n
\u201cOh my God, what a rush,\u201d Pitt said in a video on McLaren\u2019s social media channels. \u201cA lot bigger horse than I\u2019ve been on.\u201d<\/p>\n<\/p>\n
Pitt added on the Beyond the Grid podcast: \u201cI got to hit 197mph this week. I really wanted to hit 200. You know, it hurts me a little bit \u2013 three miles per hour short on the straight. This was at Austin.<\/p>\n
\u201cYou\u2019re so focused, but you\u2019re not white knuckling. You\u2019re just in this sublime groove. It is really extraordinary.<\/p>\n
\u201cI try to explain this feeling of downforce, and I fail every time because you try to say like a rollercoaster, but that\u2019s not even right, because you feel the fulcrum point underneath you \u2013 you\u2019re in it.<\/p>\n
\u201cI was in an aerobatic plane once, and it\u2019s the closest thing, but still this thing\u2026 this is such a unique feeling and an absolute high. I\u2019m still on a high, I really am. I\u2019m just still on a high.\u201d<\/p>\n
Pitt\u2019s fictional rookie team-mate Joshua Pearce is played by British actor Damson Idris.<\/p>\n
Filming has taken place across multiple races over the last two seasons and F1 chiefs hope the movie will follow the popularity of Netflix\u2019s Drive To Survive series in cracking America.<\/p>\n
Seven-time world champion Lewis Hamilton is an executive producer on the movie, directed by Joseph Kosinski and co-produced by Jerry Bruckheimer, which will be released in the United States on Friday.<\/p>\n
Hamilton, 40, posted a picture of himself alongside Pitt as he reflected on the journey he had been on while making the film.<\/p>\n
\u201cFour years in the making \u2014 what a journey it\u2019s been,\u201d Hamilton wrote on Instagram.<\/p>\n
