As wife-to-be Chas Dingle<\/a> and her son Aaron rush to his side, they’re sickened to find Liam brutally attacked and left for dead \u2013 but who did this? <\/p>\n

With the walls closing in on dangerous John Sugden<\/a>, perhaps Liam got close to the truth and became the murderous medic’s latest victim\u2026<\/p>\n

“Liam’s attack could be fatal. This is his third head injury in two months. The terror in Mack’s eyes says it all \u2013 this attack was savage,” our Emmerdale source reveals.<\/p>\n

The obvious suspect for Liam’s collapse is John, considering the former army doctor is already spiralling under the weight of his dark secrets. <\/p>\n

Now his sister Victoria is digging dangerously into his past, and we’ve seen his temper flare\u2026<\/p>\n

Victoria begins with good intentions as she meets up with John’s mate Connor to get the low-down on her mysterious brother ahead of his stag do. <\/p>\n

As she listens to the gossip about her sibling, Victoria can’t believe her ears when she learns that John’s ex-boyfriend Aidan Moore<\/a> is still alive. <\/p>\n

Previously, John had opened up about Aidan’s death, claiming he was a mate who had died in action. John kept his treasured dog tags close, but later threw them away as a declaration of love to Aaron Dingle, changing his story and revealing that Aidan was an ex.<\/p>\n

“Little does Victoria know, John’s been visiting comatose Aidan in hospital,” our insider explains. <\/p>\n

“All this time, John’s been lying about this monumental person in his life. What does this mean for his relationship with Aaron?”<\/p>\n

In shock, Victoria takes in Connor’s explanation about what happened to Aidan in Afghanistan, and the revelation that he’s currently hooked up to machines in a Leeds hospital. Vic heads there, still reeling, to be faced with the man she thought was dead.<\/p>\n

Later, the troubled chef confronts her brother, telling him she knows all about Aidan. With one of his close secrets out in the open, John flies into a panic, looking for an escape as Victoria lays into him for lying.<\/p>\n

“John is volatile in defence mode,” points out our source.<\/p>\n

“If he doesn’t lash out at Victoria, maybe Liam gets in his way. But is this attack playing right into his hands?\u201d<\/p>\n

Could John play the hero again and save Liam’s life to repair his reputation \u2013 or will he flee the village before Vic tells Aaron everything and wrecks the wedding?<\/p>\n
