Or maybe if you\u2019re having a really rough morning, putting your legs through the same or wrong holes.<\/p>\n<p class=\"text_text__nEn66\">But there\u2019s a different, pretty common, mistake that could have bigger consequences than a bit of embarrassment.<\/p>\n<p class=\"text_text__nEn66\">That\u2019s as a <a class=\"anchor_link__6t7IO\" href=\"https:\/\/www.ladbible.com\/health\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">doctor<\/a> warns millions are at risk of a gross (and also a little embarrassing) infection.<\/p>\n<p class=\"text_text__nEn66\">Dr Samuel Choudhury, a GP specialising in skincare, says people could face \u2018crotch rot\u2019 as a consequence of putting on their underwear in a common way.<\/p>\n<p class=\"text_text__nEn66\">This groin infection is caused by the same fungus that\u2019s responsible for <a class=\"anchor_link__6t7IO\" href=\"https:\/\/www.ladbible.com\/news\/health\/gym-goer-ringworm-equipment-bare-skin-209113-20250315\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">ringworm<\/a>, tinea corporis and is also known as \u2018jock itch\u2019.<\/p>\n<p><img alt=\"It's a common mistake to make. (Getty Stock)<\/p>\n<p class=\"text_text__nEn66\">And the doc explained how the infection can often spread to the genital and groin area through the feet.<\/p>\n<p class=\"text_text__nEn66\">In a video shared on <a class=\"anchor_link__6t7IO\" href=\"https:\/\/www.ladbible.com\/social-media\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">social media<\/a>, Dr Choudhury warned of just how common \u2018foot fungus\u2019 is, as he claimed 70 percent of people will get it \u2018at least one in their life\u2019.<\/p>\n<p class=\"text_text__nEn66\">So, he said: \u201cIf and when that time comes, this is the right way to wear your underwear so you don\u2019t get jock itch.\u201d<\/p>\n<p class=\"text_text__nEn66\">He went on to say that if you put on your undies while your feet are bare and you have foot fungus, you\u2019re going to spread the infection due to it being so contagious.<\/p>\n<p class=\"text_text__nEn66\">\u201cThe underwear comes in contact with the rash,\u201d Dr Choudhury explained. \u201cIt can carry the fungal spores all the way up to your groin.\u201d<\/p>\n<p class=\"text_text__nEn66\">And while it\u2019s such a simple way of causing yourself to get \u2018crotch rot\u2019, there\u2019s a very simple way of avoiding it.<\/p>\n<p class=\"text_text__nEn66\">\u201cYou want to wear your socks first,\u201d he continued. \u201cThis acts as a barrier so you can safely wear your underwear, so that now you can just focus on treating one area.\u201d<\/p>\n<p><img alt=\"It's common to get it on your feet. (Getty Stock)<\/p>\n<p class=\"text_text__nEn66\">The doctor added that those with a \u2018persistent\u2019 itch in their groin should think about the state of their feet.<\/p>\n<p class=\"text_text__nEn66\">Ringworm can appear anywhere on the body and the main symptom is a rash that may be scaly, dry, swollen or itchy.
