The Lizzie McGuire Movie actress Alex Borstein has delighted fans after sharing a clip of herself at the Trevi fountain in Rome, Italy<\/a>, celebrating the iconic film’s 22-year anniversary.<\/p>\n

‘Well, it’s been 22, or 23, years, but Ms. Ungermeyer is back,’ declared Borstein, 54, who played the stern but lovable high school principal in the film.<\/p>\n

She then panned around, showing off the fountain, saying: ‘La Citta Eterna,’ which means The Eternal City in Italian.\u00a0<\/p>\n

‘The b**ch is back,’ she cheekily captioned the post, which was shared to Instagram.<\/p>\n

The Lizzie McGuire Movie, which was released in May 2003, follows the protagonist Lizzie McGuire (played by Hilary Duff<\/a>) as she embarks on a school trip to Rome over the summer.<\/p>\n

Once there, Lizzie is mistaken for Italian popstar Isabella by her singing partner and boyfriend Paolo, who convinces her to pretend to perform as her in an upcoming concert.\u00a0\u00a0<\/p>\n

The film was the big-screen adaptation of the popular Disney Channel series, Lizzie McGuire.<\/p>\n

‘Attention parents: shut your pie holes! (I always wanted to say that as a teacher.)’ wrote another.<\/p>\n

‘You’re not yelling enough and you need your headset!!!!!’ chimed in another.<\/p>\n

‘Are you a fountain of youth immortal ageless being or did I just think you were already this age in the Lizzie McGuire movie because I was a preteen with no concept of what adults of different ages look like?’ marveled another.<\/p>\n

In addition to Hilary Duff as Lizzie McGuire, the series, which ran from 2001 to 2004, also starred Adam Lamberg, Robert Carradine, Haille Todd, and Jake Thomas.<\/p>\n

The movie grossed $55.5 million at the box office.<\/p>\n

After starring in Lizzie McGuire,\u00a0Borstein has continued to work in Hollywood.<\/p>\n

In 2020, Duff, 37, revealed via Instagram that despite her best efforts, Lizzie McGuire would not be rebooted.<\/p>\n

‘I’ve been so honored to have the character of Lizzie in my life,’ she wrote in a note to her 16 million fans online at the time. ‘She has made such a lasting impact on many, including myself. To see the fans’ loyalty and love for her, to this day, means so much to me.’\u00a0<\/p>\n

‘I know the efforts and conversations have been everywhere trying to make a reboot work, but sadly and despite everyone’s best efforts, it isn’t going to happen,’ she added.\u00a0<\/p>\n

‘I want any reboot of Lizzie to be honest and authentic to who Lizzie would be today. It’s what the character deserves.’<\/p>\n
